Today, we honored the fallen men and women who gave everything in service to our country. We are forever grateful for the freedoms they fought to protect and for the sacrifices made on behalf of this nation.

Our hearts are with the loved ones, families, and friends who continue to carry the loss of these heroes each day.

“All gave some, and some gave all.”

Countless sacrifices have been made, and today we pause to remember and thank the brave men and women who answered the call with courage, honor, and selflessness.

We hope everyone has taken a moment today to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

From the Mckenzie Fire Department, we extend our deepest gratitude to the fallen, their families, and all who continue to honor their legacy through service and remembrance.

Stay safe, and never forget.

On Friday, May 8th, the McKenzie Fire Department had the privilege of working alongside more than 25 fire departments with one shared mission — the containment and extinguishment of the Sigma Plastics industrial fire.

It was an honor to stand beside over 200 dedicated personnel from departments across the region. Throughout the incident, teamwork, unity, and dedication were evident from every agency involved.
McKenzie Fire Department provided engine and tanker support, manpower, and medical rehab services. Rehab operations included oxygen therapy, IV fluid therapy, and vital sign monitoring under the direction of EMS Lt. Castleman. The Tennessee Federation of Fire Chaplains Rehab Emergency Support Trailer was also utilized to assist crews operating on scene.
Mckenzie FD chief Tucker and Carrol Co. Fire Chief Gaskins operated in unified command on the Charlie side of the incident.

McKenzie Fire Department personnel remained on scene for approximately 13 hours, working in rotations to support ongoing operations.

We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside so many outstanding departments and individuals. Incidents like this are a true reminder of the strength of the fire service and what can be accomplished when agencies and the community come together as one team. The hydration and food support from the community was more than anyone could ever ask for. The tanker and fueling support from White Farms and Tosh Farms was beyond helpful and the water drop provided by the Air National Gard was phenomenal. None of us will ever be able to express enough gratitude and thanks to everyone who pitched in but we still say thank you from the depths of our hearts.

Our staff would like to give a shout out to Woodmen Life for the donation of flags to the City of McKenzie and our Fire Department. The City received a 10x15 American flag for the flag pole in front of city hall. Our Fire Department received a 28 x 40 American flag to be used during display over special events and funerals. Thank you to the representatives from Woodmen Life in your efforts to make this happen.
