The First Draft of McHenry’s Unified Development Ordinance is now available!

A UDO is a comprehensive set of regulations that guides land use, development, zoning, and related processes within a community. View the draft, learn more, and take a survey at:

The draft will be discussed at two upcoming public workshops in the City Council Chambers. The workshops will focus on identifying and discussing key policy items for consideration as the UDO moves forward:

McHenry Music Festival is almost here!

A reminder that McHenry Music Fest takes over Petersen Park this Thursday through Saturday, September 10–12, bringing thousands of music fans to our community for an exciting weekend of live entertainment.

With many guests traveling to and through McHenry to attend the festival, residents and community members can expect increased traffic and activity in the area throughout the weekend.

A long weekend = the perfect time to clear out the clutter!

Tackle some closets, basements, and garages over the weekend and get rid of your old electronics in preparation for the Fall E-Waste Collection.

📅 September 14–18, 2026
📍 Place e-waste at the curb on your regular refuse pick-up day

Residents may put out up to five electronic items per pick-up, with only one television OR one computer monitor included in those five items.

Accepted items include televisions/monitors, computers and accessories, printers without ink, cameras, telephones, video game systems, holiday lights and more.
