Good evening Jayhawks.
We needed to clarify our recent post 2 days ago. We’ve received several phone calls and messages asking how to make sure you can receive the Forever Jayhawks emails. Here’s the process:
Email Jim Barth at [email protected].
1. Give him the email address you want him to use. Request him to add that email address to his list. Also let him know who you are and that you’re a retired Jayhawk.
2. If you have already signed up but aren’t getting emails you may need to update Jim with your new email. Again, just email him with your new email address and your name. If you’re still using the original address you gave him just make sure it’s the correct one.

We hope this helps get you receiving those emails.
Thanks.

Happy New Year Flying/Fighting Jayhawks. Jim Barth ([email protected]) is updating the Forever Jayhawks email listing and needs your updated email address. By sending Jim an email to the above address requesting to receive retiree emails and letting him know you are a retired Flying/Fighting Jayhawk member he’ll add you to his listing.
Cheers!

A PSA about SSFA. 😬
SSA has updated SSFA information on their website.
Please take a look at the updates if you are interested in their progress of restoring benefit pay to civil service technicians affected by WEP/GPO. Their restoration timeline has moved up significantly.
SSFA updates are listed at the top of the www.ssa.gov website.
Cheers.

Just a follow up on the recent post about Social Security’s information and updates on the recently passed Social Security Fairness Act:

It appears that SSA is working to provide updates on how their progress is coming on implementing SSFA. Their login website has a link at the top titled “Social Security Fairness Act” that does provide updates if you are interested in receiving this information. If this link doesn’t answer your questions there is a phone number listed that you can call. However the stipulation is to help you apply for your benefit. Rumors have also been circulating that SSA is slow getting these benefits processed. If you have questions that are not getting answered by SSA it may be to your advantage to endure a phone call to them to see where you stand.
Good luck!
Here’s the link to the account login where you can access the SSFA updates:

Good day Retirees. This is an announcement for retired 184th civil service technicians who retired under the old Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS).
As part of the recently passed Social Security Fairness Act (SSFA), retired CSRS technicians who fall under the WEP/GPO rules for receiving Social Security payments will be seeing changes in their monthly Social Security payouts. This affects a significant number of 184th retired technicians.
The Act removed the the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) /Government Pension Offset (GPO) rule for CSRS retirees. This means that SSA will have refigure our monthly SSA payouts without the reductions. Most of us will probably see our monthly SSA increase because of it.
The Act was passed by Congress and signed by President Biden on January 6th, however SSA will need time to implement the changes. And we all know that it will probably take more time than we think they'll need :)
Social Security has published an SSFA announcement on the login page of their website that you'll need to read and heed. Also the National Active & Retired Federal Employees organization (NARFE) has information on their website and will be tracking SSA's implementation progress. We've included a link to NARFEs website explaining the Act and what should happen. A big THANKS to Karen Morrow for providing the link.
As always patience is key here. These two links should be able to keep you informed as to the progress. If not let us know and we'll try to help you.
Happy New Year & Cheers!
