For generations, Indigenous communities in New Mexico have supported birth through ceremony, collective care and shared traditions.

Today, organizations like Navajo Birthworker Collective and Tewa Women United are helping reclaim and protect those practices while expanding access to culturally grounded care for families.

For many years, the guidance around HIV and breastfeeding was simple: do not breastfeed. That is beginning to change.

New guidance from American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists supports a more nuanced approach. When a parent is on antiretroviral therapy and has a sustained undetectable viral load, shared decision-making is now recommended.

The risk of transmission through human milk is low, but not zero. This is where thoughtful, evidence-based counseling matters. We’re moving from restriction to informed choice.

If your team is navigating these conversations, Laurel offers training to help providers feel clear, confident, and aligned with current research. DM us to chat.

Mammary memory is real. Your b***s don't actually get bigger with baby #2 they just remember what to do.

Yep, studies show your mammary glands remember previous pregnancies, so they respond faster and may produce more milk next time around. Your body's like oh, we've done this before. Got it 👌🏻

Did you notice more milk with your second or third baby? I'm so curious if you felt the difference too.
