Mac Halterman for State Executive Committee

Mac Halterman for State Executive Committee This is the official page of Mac Halterman WVDPSEC district 16 representative! These are representative positions that serve constituents.

Mac Halterman is running to represent democratic party members in the state party. Every four years Democrats get to vote on who will serve and represent them on the state committee. Knowing that- when is the last time your democratic party state executive committee member reached out to ask your opinion on democratic party policy, the platform, or anything for that matter? The answer is probably

never; and for good reason, since 2018 many elected party representatives have failed to show up to meetings at all. When I personally reached out to voice my opinions to my representative, that we elect qualified people to positions within the party, I was laughed at. As someone who has represented West Virginia on some of the largest of stages and brought back two national championships for her, I say it is time we elect qualified people who want to represent West Virginians to the Party... and more importantly, it is time we elected West Virginians who want to do the hard work of organizing and reaching out to other West Virginians. No more will the Democratic Party be a social organization that only shows up to ask for money in election years. We are going to actively engage voters constantly, from policy debates, to op-eds, to door knocking and voter registration events every single quarter. Oh, and we're going to start making sure you have a say inside the party- not just at election time. That's my vision for the West Virginia Democratic Party. If that sounds good to you, and you live in Berkeley or Jefferson County, I hope on May 10th you'll give me one of your two State Executive Committee votes. If you don't live in those areas, I want to connect you with other people who are running who think like me. Just send me a message and I'll make sure you can elect someone just as capable and passionate as me to represent you!

Recruitment doesn’t work if there is no support for our candidates.
These battles are not about 2026 or 2028…
They are about winning majorities in all areas of government come 2030 to win the gerrymandering fight. Thats a ten years of policy decision, thousands of races involving many more times the candidates, and a decade of impact on the lives of our state.
Our candidates are tired.
Yes money helps but it is just one cog in the machine that needs to work… but so does having an army of volunteers to give to our county committees and nominated candidates, established community relationships, strategic marketing, preplanned and ready to execute large scale events at the county and state level, direct subsidization and other support nets for our county committees to have the breathing room to build out their infrastructure, competent treasurers, trainings, etc…
We need to put every member of the state committee to work- every single member- because we cannot afford to lose in 2030… and building these things out takes time… but our candidates and the party will be so much better off for it.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is continuing to block Black and other minority military officers from promotions at the Department of Defense, appearing to prioritize his anti-DEI stance over merit.

Hegseth disproportionately targeted women and minority officers in a recent decision to remove nine individuals from a list of 22 selected for promotion to be one-star admirals by a board of senior Navy admirals.

His removal of minority and women officers appeared to “violate the rules governing a promotion system,” which are supposed to be “apolitical and merit-based.”

Arrived in Charleston, staying in cross lanes, going to the pool and unwinding from a long trip before getting to work tonight.
Texts appreciated and will return them when recharged…
Tonight is the eleventh hour…
Either we complete the final preparations to tend to the vineyard of democracy tonight… or we fail to do so…
And tomorrow will determine if it will grow or wilt.
