Mac Halterman is running to represent democratic party members in the state party. Every four years Democrats get to vote on who will serve and represent them on the state committee. Knowing that- when is the last time your democratic party state executive committee member reached out to ask your opinion on democratic party policy, the platform, or anything for that matter? The answer is probably
never; and for good reason, since 2018 many elected party representatives have failed to show up to meetings at all. When I personally reached out to voice my opinions to my representative, that we elect qualified people to positions within the party, I was laughed at. As someone who has represented West Virginia on some of the largest of stages and brought back two national championships for her, I say it is time we elect qualified people who want to represent West Virginians to the Party... and more importantly, it is time we elected West Virginians who want to do the hard work of organizing and reaching out to other West Virginians. No more will the Democratic Party be a social organization that only shows up to ask for money in election years. We are going to actively engage voters constantly, from policy debates, to op-eds, to door knocking and voter registration events every single quarter. Oh, and we're going to start making sure you have a say inside the party- not just at election time. That's my vision for the West Virginia Democratic Party. If that sounds good to you, and you live in Berkeley or Jefferson County, I hope on May 10th you'll give me one of your two State Executive Committee votes. If you don't live in those areas, I want to connect you with other people who are running who think like me. Just send me a message and I'll make sure you can elect someone just as capable and passionate as me to represent you!
