Attention Haverhill Residents and visitors:

Due to some construction in the area the Haverhill Warning Siren is offline and will remain offline for approximately 2 weeks. Emergency Management was alerted today by construction crews. EM will send out another email when the siren is back online.

If there are any questions or concerns from the public, please direct them to the City of Haverhill (owner of the siren) or the Emergency Management office.

In the meantime, remember it is always best to have several modes of severe weather alerts. Those can be signing up for Alert Iowa, using a NOAA Weather Radio, using smart apps on your device, and tuning in to local media. Outdoor warning sirens are intended to warn those outdoors of tornado warnings.

Scattered showers will continue throughout the afternoon while highs are expected to climb into the mid 70’s to lower 80’s under mostly cloudy skies. A few rumbles of thunder and heavy rain can't be ruled out with these storms. Overnight, more widespread thunderstorms return to the area. The severe weather threat is low, however, isolated flash flooding is possible with any storms that develop ahead of the main line.

Every day is different with the same goals.

Emergency Management isn’t a 9–5 job.

Some days it’s planning.
Some days it’s monitoring weather.
Some days it’s coordinating response.

Every day — it’s about keeping communities ready.

The recent dry pattern is set to come to an end this weekend as showers and storms become possible every day. While today remains mostly dry under increasing clouds, showers are expected to arrive tonight and linger into Saturday morning, particularly across western and Central Iowa. However, Saturday will not be a total washout, leaving plenty of dry breaks and rain-free intervals throughout the afternoon. Scattered showers and storms will return on Sunday, bringing a slim chance of an isolated strong to severe storm, but you can still expect periods of dry weather mixed in.

Pleasant, summer conditions continue the rest of the week and into the weekend with highs in the 80s. Occasional showers or storms may occur at times in western Iowa but most will stay dry.

Another beautiful.summer day. Stay hydrated my friends.

☀️ Warm, summerlike conditions today with highs in the upper 80s to near 90°F.

🌦️ An isolated shower or non-severe storm will be possible in northern Iowa late this afternoon into the evening, but chances are low (10 to 20%) and most will stay dry.

In emergency management, one decision can impact thousands of people.

When to activate shelters.
When to issue alerts.
Where to send resources.

These decisions aren’t guesses — they’re built on data, coordination, and experience.
