I saw this poem at a war memorial while I was in Edinburgh this past summer. It was very impactful. I share it with you to honor this Veterans Day.

‘For The Fallen’ by Laurence Binyon

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns for her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
There is music in the midst of desolation
And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.

Here on Election Day Eve, I wanted to say ‘Thank You!’ to everyone that has supported my campaign. Your support, your words of encouragement, and your donations have allowed me to run the campaign I envisioned. My hopes and desires for a Marshall that is positioned for success have clearly connected with many residents of Marshall. So, thank you!

With that being said, there is still one day left and it’s an important one. Even though the City of Marshall has had a fanstastic voter turnout in both mail-in and in-person early voting, there is still about 30% of likely voters that will vote on Election Day tomorrow.

So, I’m asking you for one last thing. Please take some time today to talk with your family, friends, and neighbors to encourage them to get out and vote tomorrow. Explain to them why you are supporting me for Mayor of Marshall and why Mr. Adams was not the right choice for you. Word of mouth is still the most effective way to help others understand why you support a particular candidate.

I’m so very excited about what comes next for Marshall, but we’ve got to be successful tomorrow to keep Marshall’s momentum moving forward!

Thank you all!

DID YOU KNOW? Both Regis Klingler and Gretchen Esser are actively suing the City of Marshall.

DID YOU KNOW? Klingler and Esser have already lost 3 times in court.

DID YOU KNOW? Klingler and Esser have already cost the City of Marshall hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees.

DID YOU KNOW? Klingler and Esser have now appealed their losing case to the Michigan Supreme Court. This will cost the people of Marshall tens of thousands of dollars more in legal fees.

How can two people that are actively suing the City of Marshall possibly serve the interests of all of the residents of Marshall on City Council?
