TOMORROW is Voting Day! On May 5, 2026, MAPS will ask residents to consider a $59.995 million bond proposal designed to address critical facility, safety, and learning environment needs across all MAPS schools. This proposal reflects years of study, engagement, and planning, and would carry an estimated tax impact of 1.55 mills.

When it comes to school funding, Marquette compares well regionally.

Marquette Area Public Schools currently has one of the lowest millage rates in the region at 1.31 mills - lower than many nearby districts. Even with the proposed bond, our millage would remain competitive while allowing us to invest responsibly in our school buildings. The proposed bond would add 1.55 mills and support $59.995 million in building improvements through phased borrowing, with the flexibility to refinance after 10 years to reduce taxpayer impact when possible. This is about taking care of what we already have, planning wisely, and ensuring safe, functional learning spaces for every student - now and into the future.

Absentee voting is open March 26, 2026

In-Person Absentee Voting: Voters can request and vote via absentee ballot in-person at their municipal clerk’s office beginning on April 25, 2026 through May 3, 2026. Office hours vary by municipality, some municipal offices may not offer additional in-person absentee hours. Please contact your municipal clerk for available options.
