Today is the last day to pay your county tax bill in the sheriff’s office. After that, delinquent tax bills must be paid in the county clerk’s office with significant penalties and fees added.

At this stage, the sheriff’s office does not accept check or charge cards.

A member of our county employee family seriously injured in the line of duty he’s sworn to do, as well as our Sheriff’s Department, need their community right now.

We are reminded in these moments that life is about more than politics, petty differences and divisive words. Public service is often criticized — sometimes fairly so; it’s part of the job — but we are all here to serve our fellow citizens. Our law enforcement officers are a step above, facing the threat of harm every day.

Please allow your thoughts, prayers and consideration for those involved serve over all else for the good of our community.

Mail-in absentee voting starts Saturday. BUT before you request a ballot, consider voting in person the three days of Early Voting (May 14-16, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.) or Election Day (May 19, 6 a.m.-6 p.m.) at the County Office Complex. It's never been easier to vote in Crittenden County.

In person, there is more than enough onsite parking and complete accessibility for the disabled and those with difficultly walking. (Voting is all on one level with no steps to negotiate.) Plus, there is onsite help, you get the satisfaction of seeing your ballot accepted, and you get a free sticker. You might even see a friend you have not seen in a few months.

A mail-in ballot still has to either be dropped at the County Office Complex or mailed at a cost of $1.90. There are several steps to ensure you complete correctly or else your ballot may not be accepted. Additionally, it costs the county $4.30 to mail each ballot to a voter.

However, we understand that some people are just unable to get out. In those cases, apply for a mail-in ballot at GoVote.ky.gov or by calling our office at 270-965-3403 and attest to the reason you are unable to vote in person.

Ballots will be mailed from our office on Mondays and Thursdays until the portal closes May 5. You should receive your ballot the following day, if you live in the 42064 ZIP code.

Complete instructions thoroughly and make sure we have your ballot in hand by 6 p.m. on May 19.

Crittenden County Clerk's Office is closed Friday in observance of Good Friday. All county office complex offices are also closed.

Boat owners can now renew their Kentucky registration and pay taxes online at Drive.ky.gov. This new service offered by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet works just like online renewals for automobiles.

Like with cars, your registration must be current and have no overdue property taxes owed. Watercraft may be renewed by selecting the county of your residence or the county where your boat is docked. If renewing multiple boats, only one county may be selected. However, you may still renew; it will simply take separate transactions for each county.

Visit https://secure.kentucky.gov/kytc/renewal directly and select Add Boat. You will then be prompted to enter the county followed by the KY Number and Title Number of the boat. You may add as many other boats as necessary under the same county.

When you are finished, you will need a charge card to check out. We will process your renewal the next day and drop your 2026 decal in the mail. You don't even have to leave the house... or boat.

Online renewal for boats closes April 30, as all 2025 registrations expire after that date. The portal will remain open for motor vehicles.
