At 37 years old, Chad Francour is a dedicated community advocate with a passion for making meaningful connections. Born and raised in Marinette, Wisconsin, he comes from a well-known family deeply rooted in the community and working hard. His upbringing instilled in him the values of generosity, service, and a deep appreciation for the people around him. These values, along with his own life experiences, have shaped his mission to create a business that brings people together through companionship and the simple joy of sharing a meal. At just sixteen years old, Chad experienced a life-altering event—a severe traumatic brain injury. The road to recovery was long and challenging, filled with personal obstacles and profound realizations about the importance of support systems. His journey reinforced a core belief: human connection is essential to healing and well-being. This perspective continues to shape his life and work today. Determined to turn his experiences into something positive, Chad, pursued higher education at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Human Development. His studies deepened his understanding of the human experience, especially in areas like mental health, aging, and the social needs of vulnerable populations. During this time, he volunteered as a hospice worker—an experience that left a lasting impact. Spending time with individuals nearing the end of their lives, he witnessed firsthand the profound effects of loneliness, but also the incredible power of companionship. He realized that a simple visit, a shared conversation, or a warm meal could bring comfort and dignity to those who needed it most. Throughout his career, Chad has worked in various fields, but a common thread has always been helping others. Whether supporting individuals through community services, advocacy work, or personal outreach, his passion has always been making a difference. Over time, he recognized a glaring gap in the support systems available for elderly individuals, those living alone, and others at risk of social isolation. While organizations existed to provide food or medical assistance, few programs truly focused on companionship and emotional support—something just as critical to a person’s overall well-being. With the encouragement of his family, peers, and mentors, Chad took a leap of faith and founded Meals with a Friend—a business with a simple yet powerful mission: to bring people together over meals, fostering real human connections in the process. His vision is to pair volunteers with individuals in need of companionship, creating an experience that nourishes both the body and the soul. Through Meals with a Friend, Chad, hopes to change the way communities view social care. He believes that no one should feel forgotten, no one should have to eat alone if they don’t want to, and everyone deserves moments of joy and connection. By combining a love for food, meaningful conversations, and the kindness of volunteers, he is working to create a stronger, more connected community—one meal at a time. As Meals with a Friend grows, Chad remains committed to expanding its reach and impact, ensuring that more people receive the warmth and companionship they deserve. He invites volunteers, community partners, and supporters to join him in this mission, believing that together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of so many.

💛 We’ve been busy at Meals With A Friend—growing our community, reaching more people, and making time for connection!

Here’s a glimpse of some of our recent shared meals and friendly visits. Behind each picture is time spent listening, sharing stories, laughing, and getting to know one another.

A meal brings us to the table, but the company gives us a reason to stay. Sometimes, simply having someone beside you can make the day feel a little brighter. 🍽️🤝

Thank you to our friends, companions, and community supporters for helping these connections grow.

🍂 A Full Day of Friendship, Fresh Air & Connection 🍂

Today was one of those days that really captures what Meals With A Friend is all about.

We started by exploring the beautiful Thunder Mountain Overlook Park in Crivitz, taking in the fall colors, fresh air, and incredible views. Afterward, we had a wonderful and successful friendly visit—simply spending time together, talking, listening, and enjoying each other’s company.

We finished the day by sharing dinner with another friend. Steak, cauliflower, a warm bowl of our homemade bean mixture—and, of course, a few cookies for something sweet. 😊

Days like today remind me that connection doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s a beautiful view. Sometimes it’s sitting across from someone and listening. Sometimes it’s sharing a simple meal around the table.

But underneath all of it is the same thing: showing another person that their time, their stories, and their presence matter. ❤️

That’s what Meals With A Friend is here to do—one visit, one meal, and one friendship at a time.

Two visits, two shared meals, and plenty of good conversation today. 💛

In Green Bay, we met at Bel Air Cantina. We started with chips and salsa, then each enjoyed a shrimp bowl while we talked.

Later, in Marinette, my friend had two burgers with red potatoes and, of course, cauliflower. I had three-bean soup with a little quinoa tossed in for variety. It was tasty!

Every meal gives us a chance to slow down, listen, and connect. That’s what Meals With A Friend is all about.

🫘 Three-Bean Balsamic Mix

Beans

* 2 cans chickpeas, drained and rinsed
* 1 can dark red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
* 1 can pinto beans, drained and rinsed

Everything we added

* ½ cup low-sodium chicken broth
* Chopped onion
* Garlic powder
* Onion powder
* Ground cumin
* Ground turmeric
* Black pepper
* Balsamic vinaigrette

How you made it: You drained and rinsed the beans, combined them in the pot, then added the chicken broth, onion, seasonings, and balsamic vinaigrette. You heated everything together until the beans were hot and the flavors had a chance to combine.

Tonight you served the bean mixture over cooked quinoa, alongside chicken, a small piece of steak, broccoli, and cauliflower.

One thing we didn’t establish exact measurements for was the balsamic vinaigrette and individual seasonings, so I wouldn’t want to invent those amounts. If you want to recreate this exactly next time, we can turn it into a measured recipe.

🍽️ A Colorful, Homemade Meal With A Friend!

Tonight’s meal had a little bit of everything: chicken, a small piece of steak, roasted broccoli and cauliflower, along with quinoa topped with a hearty homemade three-bean mixture.

The beans were the fun part! We combined chickpeas, dark red kidney beans, and pinto beans and gave them plenty of flavor while keeping the ingredients simple.

Our bean mixture included: chickpeas, dark red kidney beans, pinto beans, chopped onion, low-sodium chicken broth, balsamic vinaigrette, cumin, onion powder, turmeric, black pepper, and garlic powder.

We served the warm beans over quinoa, making a filling combination of plant-based protein, fiber, and whole grains alongside our meat and vegetables.

Meals don’t have to be fancy to be meaningful. Sometimes it’s about putting together wholesome food, sitting down at the table, and enjoying the simple experience of sharing a meal with someone. ❤️

That’s what Meals With A Friend is all about—food may bring us to the table, but human connection is what makes the meal matter.

🍂 Wheel Hike Together 2026 — Here I Come! 🍂

I’m excited to be heading to Crivitz this Tuesday at 10:00 AM to take part in Wheel Hike Together 2026!

This is such a cool opportunity to make the outdoors more accessible. All-terrain tracked wheelchairs give people with mobility challenges the chance to get out on the trails, explore the woods, enjoy the fall colors, and experience places that might otherwise be difficult or impossible to reach.

As an adaptive athlete, I’m always looking for another adventure and another way to push beyond limitations. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what this machine can do! 💪♿🍁🌲

The event runs September 29–October 4 at Thunder Mountain Overlook Park in Crivitz. Reservations are FREE, but you need to reserve your time in advance. Regular park entry fees still apply.

Check out Explore Marinette County to reserve a spot for yourself, a friend, or a loved one.

Who knows what kind of adventure Tuesday will bring! 😎

The best part of a meal is sharing it. 🍽️

This morning at Hometown, we enjoyed our usual: three eggs and crispy hash browns with onions. For dinner, we split tilapia, potatoes, and broccoli prepared in the air fryer.

Nothing fancy. Just good food, conversation, and time together. Simple moments like these are what make Meals With A Friend so meaningful. ❤️

Exciting news! This shows how local businesses can help support the community. A special thank-you to David and Jim at Papa Murphy’s for donating 10 large pizzas to Meals With A Friend! 🍕

Your kindness helps us bring people together around a meal and showed how much Papa Murphy’s cares about our community. In the meantime, help spread the good news and support Papa Murphy’s.

We’re grateful for your generosity and support! ❤️
