Extreme heat happens when temperatures are much hotter than normal. The temperature can feel even hotter if it is also humid. This can further increase health risks. Heat is the deadliest weather hazard in the United States.
Stay safe during excessive heat by staying cool, avoiding strenuous activity, staying hydrated, and watching for symptoms of heat illness.

A heat advisory will be in effect today starting at 11am through tomorrow, Friday June 12th, at 8pm. The combination of well-above average temperatures and increased humidity will lead to maximum heat index values across southeastern PA, climbing into the upper 90s and lower 100s during the afternoon and evening hours.

Extreme heat is forecasted for Pennsylvania Thursday, June 11 and Friday, June 12, 2026. Exposure to extreme heat can cause multiple medical issues including heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Everyone can be vulnerable to heat, but some more so than others. Check in with friends and relatives who fall in one of these populations, especially if they don’t have air conditioning.
