Stiegel’s Office

Henry Stiegel’s office was located on the northwest corner of West High Street and North Charlotte Street, facing Market Square and the Stiegel Mansion at the other end of Market Square.

The building was erected in 1765. After the demise of the Stiegel Glassworks the building was used as a residence.

Manheim Sentinel, June 22, 1933, “For many years the Stiegel office building was occupied by Lizzie White, who conducted a millinery store in a corner room. It was very seldom frequented. The lady owned a cow which was stabled in the barn to the rear of the house.”

Stiegel’s Office building was demolished in 1910, when it was replaced by the Martin G. Hess home which remains today on that lot.
