The Goshen Fair never disappoints.
I had a great time meeting some of the next generation of leaders in Connecticut agriculture and learning more about the Housatonic Valley Agricultural Science and Technology Program. I spoke with students interested in everything from veterinary science and livestock to plant science, pollination, and soil testing.
Then I met an especially impressive young woman, Avery Hutton. Avery came through the 4-H program, raises and breeds her own livestock, and has developed an incredible knowledge of the industry. She is now judging livestock competitions and traveling around the country doing what she loves.
She is knowledgeable, confident, and a wonderful public speaker.
Congratulations, Avery. You are an inspiration and a great example of what the next generation of Connecticut agriculture can become.

What a wonderful day at Lime Rock Park for the Historic Festival car show.
It was great meeting racing and vintage-car enthusiasts at one of Connecticut’s most historic landmarks. Lime Rock has been part of our state’s motorsports history since 1957 and has hosted some of the greatest race car drivers from around the world.
The cars were incredible — beautifully restored race cars, classics, and something for everyone.

If you get the chance, Lime Rock is well worth the visit and a great part of what makes Connecticut special.

It was a great day at UConn for the football home opener!
There was certainly no lack of enthusiasm when it came to tailgating, Husky fans were ready.
It’s always great visiting the Woodstock Fair agriculture tents and supporting CT Grown, especially when apples are involved.
Congratulations to everyone who entered the apple pie contest, and especially to this year’s winner. I was lucky enough that the winning recipe was shared, and for anyone wondering, apple pie happens to be my favorite dessert.

The rest of the country is adding jobs.
Connecticut still has one of the highest unemployment rates in America.
We have the workforce. We have the talent. We have the people willing to work.
So why aren’t we doing better?
I believe the problem isn’t Connecticut’s people; it’s the cost and difficulty of doing business here.

It was a great day across Connecticut.

We started with a press conference alongside Senator Ryan Fazio, elected leaders, and candidates from across the state, talking about tax breaks, accountability, and the lack of transparency coming from the Lamont administration.
Then it was off to loading campaign signs and getting ready for the road ahead. If you’d like a sign, please reach out to the Fazio headquarters nearest you.
And we ended the day on a great note, speaking with the next generation of Connecticut residents who want what so many of us want: a state where they can live, work, raise a family, build a future, and someday retire.
That’s what this campaign is about.

We were told this new state commission would be made up of unpaid volunteers. Now there’s a $250,000 no-bid consulting contract connected to the chairman of that same commission.
Maybe there’s a perfectly good explanation.
If there is, taxpayers deserve to hear it.
Transparency and accountability shouldn’t depend on who you know in Hartford.

It was great traveling across the state and meeting so many wonderful people.
Thank you to CCDL for all you do.
Visiting Stafford Motor Speedway is always a great thrill — meeting the team owners, drivers, and the hardworking pit crews who make it all happen behind the scenes.
From Brooklyn to Chester and Terryville, the fairs were fantastic. Seeing the livestock, the proud owners, and the next generation of Connecticut farmers was a great reminder of the traditions that continue to make our state special.
Thank you to everyone who works so hard to keep those traditions alive, and congratulations to all who had the opportunity to show off the results of that hard work.

Another Connecticut manufacturing facility. Another story we shouldn’t ignore.
I stopped at Leed-Himmel Industries to talk about something bigger than one company or one building: what happens when Connecticut becomes too difficult and too expensive for businesses to grow, invest, and create jobs here.
These aren’t just numbers on a spreadsheet. These are jobs, families, communities, and opportunities.

Connecticut can do better, and with new leadership, we will.

It’s been a great week traveling across Connecticut and hearing directly from small business owners along the shoreline and throughout our state about the challenges they face every day.
Small and large businesses are vital to our communities. Hospitality, lodging, and tourism are especially important, supporting jobs, local restaurants, shops, attractions, and so many other businesses.
I also traveled to Suffield to meet with elected leaders and farmers and hear about the challenges facing agriculture.
Farming is more than an industry in Connecticut. It’s part of our heritage, our communities, and our way of life and it’s something worth protecting for future generations.

Hospitals are under pressure. Families and small businesses are paying more for healthcare. Yet even the state acknowledges hospitals aren’t being fully reimbursed for the care they provide.
There is a lot of money moving through Connecticut’s healthcare system.
The question is: where is it all going?
