Good Day everyone please feel free to share!
For those of you who may not know me, my name is Scot “Skippy” Trahan, and I am running for District 3 City Councilman for the Town of Mamou.
I come from a beautiful little town in Louisiana called Iota, where my family has been rooted since the 1800s. I graduated from Iota High School and later attended McNeese State University.
Over the years, life has taken me on an incredible journey. I’ve worked as a band, flag corps, and winter guard instructor. I served as a police officer. I worked on river cruise lines traveling across America as a cruise director. I later moved to Kemah, Texas, where I worked on yachts as a cruise director and wedding coordinator while helping manage a five-star restaurant.
Eventually, I joined Royal Caribbean as an activities manager and cruise director, traveling the world and meeting people from every background imaginable. I later moved to Austin, Texas, where I trained and became certified as a medical massage practitioner and opened my own practice. I also worked as a master trainer and manager for an international technical and health company.
But no matter where life took me, Louisiana was always home.
In 2022, I made the decision to come back because I missed my family, my roots, and the sense of community that only small towns can give you.
On June 26, 2022, I slept in my home in Mamou for the very first time. And from that day forward, my love for this town has grown stronger every single day.
I fell in love with the history of Mamou. I fell in love with the culture, the people, the traditions, and the stories that make this town unique. I believe our history matters. I believe the sacrifices and hard work of the generations before us deserve to be honored and protected.
But I also believe something else.
I believe protecting our history does not mean standing still.
A town can respect its past while still fighting for a better future.
From the moment I arrived here, I saw the incredible potential Mamou has. I saw hardworking people. I saw proud families. I saw culture and history that most towns would dream of having.
But I also saw opportunities being missed.
I heard from people who felt unheard. I met people who felt frustrated with leadership. I listened to concerns about infrastructure, safety, progress, beautification, drainage, accountability, and the direction our town is heading.
And I realized something very important:
The people of Mamou deserve representation that listens, works, communicates, and fights for them.
I’m not running for office because I want a title.
I’m running because I genuinely believe Mamou can do better.
We deserve leadership that is willing to ask hard questions. Leadership that is willing to put every issue on the table and work together to find solutions. Leadership that understands that progress and preserving our heritage can go hand in hand.
I want safer streets.
I want improved infrastructure.
I want better communication between elected officials and the public.
I want more pride put back into our town.
And I want people to feel hopeful about Mamou’s future again.
This election should not be about who has lived here the longest.
It should not be about family names.
And it should not be about voting for someone simply because “that’s who we’ve always voted for.”
This election should be about one thing:
Who is willing to fight for the people of Mamou?
Who is willing to listen?
Who is willing to work?
Who is willing to push for progress while respecting our traditions and heritage?
I promise you this:
If elected, I will never stop listening to the people.
I will never stop asking questions.
And I will never stop fighting for what is best for our town.
Mamou deserves leadership that is active, engaged, transparent, and committed to progress.
On November 3, you have a choice.
If you are ready for change…
If you are ready for progress…
If you are ready for your voice to truly matter…
Then I humbly ask for your vote.
Please elect Scot “Skippy” Trahan for District 3 City Councilman for the Town of Mamou.
Because this is your voice.
Your town.
And I hope to become your councilman.
Thank you, and God bless Mamou.
