The Malvern Police Department recently conducted tactical response training designed to enhance officer readiness in high-risk situations. This training included vehicle deployment techniques, coordinated movement exercises, de-escalation strategies, and lethal force engagement scenarios.

During the training, officers and instructors rotated roles as suspects, allowing teams to respond to simulated calls that evolved into dynamic, high-stress situations. These scenarios required officers to apply critical thinking, communication, and decision-making skills in real time to determine the most appropriate course of action.

This type of hands-on training ensures officers remain prepared to respond effectively, safely, and professionally to the complex situations they may encounter in the field.

The Malvern Police Department is committed to consistent, ongoing training to enhance the capabilities of its officers and ensure they are prepared to effectively respond to a wide range of situations. Continuous training remains a priority in maintaining professionalism, improving decision-making, and promoting the safety of both officers and the community.

On Friday, May 8, 2026, the Malvern Police Department participated in Malvern Elementary School’s Field Day. Detectives had the opportunity to show the Lil’ Leopards a patrol unit, giving students a closer look at the equipment and vehicles used in daily operations. !!!All the kids wanted to be locked in the cage!!!

SRO David Ridings was a highlight of the event, volunteering for the dunk tank and taking several good-natured “baths” throughout the day. His participation added to the excitement and gave students plenty to cheer about.

It was a day filled with sun, water, and community engagement. While SRO Ridings handled the dunk tank, Detective Lisenbey took on the challenge of finding a theme song for the Malvern Fire Department as they provided tours of their fire truck. Unfortunately, no song seemed to match quite like law enforcement’s well-known tune:

“Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?
Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do?
Whatcha gonna do when they come for you?”

The Malvern Police Department appreciates the opportunity to connect with students and staff and thanks everyone involved for making the event a success.

🎓 “In the Blink of an Eye” 🎓

The Malvern Police Department would like to extend heartfelt congratulations to Colby Kyle on her graduation day.

Colby, the oldest daughter of CID Commander Lt. Curtis Kyle, reaches an important milestone today. What feels like just yesterday has quickly turned into a moment of pride, reflection, and, for her parents, a little bit of disbelief at how fast the years have passed.

Lt. Kyle and Abby, today is as much your accomplishment as it is Colby’s. Thank you for raising a respectful, driven, and outstanding young woman. The values you have instilled are evident, and it shows.

Colby, as you begin this next chapter, know that you carry the support of your family and your community with you. No matter where life takes you, that foundation will always remain.

And Lt. Kyle—while today may feel like you’re losing your “little girl,” we’re confident you’ll still be getting the occasional phone call for advice… and probably to fix something.

Congratulations, Colby. We wish you continued success in all that lies ahead. 🎓👏

🎉 The Malvern Police Department is proud to recognize Officer Timothy Howard on his 1-year anniversary! 🎉

Officer Howard joined the department in April 2025 and currently serves in our Patrol Division. Over the past year, he has proven himself to be a dedicated and reliable officer, consistently demonstrating professionalism and a strong commitment to the citizens of Malvern.

Now, while Officer Howard may claim the title of “grandpa” on patrol, he has no problem keeping up with — and often outpacing — the younger officers, especially when it comes to running traffic. 🚓

And if you’ve had the chance to meet Officer Howard, there’s a good chance it may have been during a traffic stop. But chances are, you left thinking, “That was the nicest officer I’ve ever met.”

Officer Howard’s experience, work ethic, and positive attitude make him a valuable asset to the department.

👏 Please join us in congratulating Officer Howard on his first year of service and thanking him for his continued dedication to our community!

On Friday, May 1st, multiple surrounding law enforcement agencies came together for a Law Enforcement Appreciation Lunch in support of the men and women who serve their communities each day.

Officers were provided a meal that included hamburgers, hot dogs, and a full range of toppings. In addition to the meal, a variety of donated items were included in a drawing for attendees. These items ranged from a G***k pistol and a 20-gauge shotgun to gift cards, trauma kits, ammunition, and other law enforcement equipment.

The event also featured a MILO Law Enforcement Training Simulator, which provided officers the opportunity to engage in scenario-based exercises designed to enhance critical thinking and response decision-making.

The Malvern Police Department extends its appreciation to the following agencies for their participation and support:

Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Office
Clark County Sheriff’s Office
Arkadelphia Police Department
Grant County Sheriff’s Office
Sheridan Police Department
Hot Spring County Prosecutor’s Office
City of Malvern Attorney’s Office

A special thank you to CALETA for bringing the MILO simulator and giving officers the opportunity to train in an engaging, hands-on environment.

A special thank you as well to Farm Bureau Insurance for preparing and serving the meal. Your support and hospitality are greatly appreciated.

Events such as this reinforce the strong partnerships between agencies and highlight the continued commitment to training, preparedness, and service.

🚔 Training Days at Malvern PD! 💥

Over the last few months, our new hires have been hard at work going through several rounds of training — from mastering their firearm skills to getting certified with Taser Energy Weapons, and much more!

Of course, no Taser training is complete without a little shock to the system ⚡👀 (don’t worry — it’s all part of the process and done safely under supervision!).

We’re proud of our new officers for their dedication and enthusiasm as they learn the ropes and prepare to serve our community.

Check out a few moments from our recent training sessions below! 👇💪
