On Saturday, May 30, the Spring 2026 Girls on the Run Club from Salemwood participated in the end of program Celebratory 5K at the Boston Common.

The students in the club had practices twice a week between March and May. At the event on Saturday, students were able to prove their accomplishments by completing a 5K alongside an adult running buddy.

"Thank you to our Girls on the Run/Heart and Sole coaches, teachers, and admin team for always showing up and supporting our students!!," shared Principal Van Huynh. "We had a lot of laughs through the wind and pelleting rain! We all finished soaking wet and cold but proud and confident!! Through it all everyone persevere and marched onward!! So very proud to be a part of this great Salemwood community!!"

Competing against over 220 students from 20 schools across New England, Malden students demonstrated exceptional skill in negotiating and developing real-world solutions to this year’s topic on combating brain drain in Least Developed Countries.
