This morning, Town Staff and volunteers from the Trails and Greenways Committee worked together to remove debris and refuse that had accumulated on a property at the North end of Marie Street.

As a reminder, occupying vacant property without the proper permits and illegally dumping trash or other materials is prohibited. If you observe suspicious activity or unlawful occupancy, please contact the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

6/8 | A 6.1 magnitude earthquake occurred at approximately 2PM 73 miles WNW of Mantua, Cuba. Reports of shaking from the earthquake have been felt in at least the Orlando, Melbourne, Jacksonville, and Miami areas. There is no Tsunami threat.

Save our Indian river lagoon and fertilizer reminder 👍

If you live along a stormwater pond or canal and choose to fertilize, remember to leave a buffer of at least 10 feet where no fertilizer is applied. This reduces fertilizer runoff into the water, thus cutting off food for harmful algae blooms.

Adding a low-maintenance buffer, where you mow less frequently, or a planted buffer that includes a mix of bunch grasses, groundcover, and woody shrubs can further help our waterways by pulling excess nutrient pollution from the groundwater and preventing muck-forming grass clippings from entering the water.

Even if you don't live along the water, buffer zones can be beneficial along hard-surfaced areas like roads, driveways, and sidewalks. They help to reduce runoff pollution from yards. Not only do they help the water quality of the lagoon, but they also provide habitats for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife.

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘆: 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗜-𝟵𝟱 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟭-𝟭𝟱
Motorists are advised that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will implement the following overnight ramp closures on Interstate 95 (I-95) in Brevard County beginning as early as Monday, May 11.
These closures are necessary to complete paving operations for the I-95 resurfacing projects.
The work schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
FDOT advises motorists to remain alert and follow all posted detour signs. Please see the attached detour maps for additional details.

𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗽 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗜-𝟵𝟱 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱
𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙖𝙮, 𝙈𝙖𝙮 𝟭𝟭, 𝙩𝙤 𝙏𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙙𝙖𝙮, 𝙈𝙖𝙮 𝟭4: The northbound I-95 on-ramp from Malabar Road will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, concluding on Friday morning, May 15.
Motorists traveling on Malabar Road who wish to access northbound I-95 should turn onto northbound Babcock Street from Malabar Road. From there, proceed north to Palm Bay Road, turn left onto westbound Palm Bay Road, and proceed to the northbound I-95 on-ramp.

𝙒𝙚𝙙𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙙𝙖𝙮, 𝙈𝙖𝙮 13: The off-ramp from southbound I-95 to S.R. 50 (Exit 215) will be closed overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, Thursday, May 14.
Motorists traveling southbound on I-95 who wish to access S.R. 50 should continue south and exit at S.R. 407 (Exit 212). From there, turn left onto S.R. 407 and proceed to the northbound I-95 on-ramp. Proceed north to S.R. 50 (Exit 215).

𝙏𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙙𝙖𝙮, 𝙈𝙖𝙮 14:The on-ramp from S.R. 50 to southbound I-95 will be closed overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning, Friday, May 15.
Motorists traveling on S.R. 50 who wish to access southbound I-95 should enter northbound I-95 from S.R. 50 and travel north to exit at Garden Street (S.R. 406) (Exit 220). From there, turn left onto westbound Garden Street and proceed to the southbound I-95 on-ramp.
