We want to bring to everyone’s attention an important clarification regarding the recent report about the missing funds from a jail facility. The report indicated that the incident occurred in Whitesburg, KY, but it has come to my attention that this information is inaccurate.

• Incident: Approximately $10,500 reported missing

• Correct Location: The incident occurred in Perry
County, NOT Whitesburg.

• Date: September 8, 2026

• Nature of the Report: A trooper was requested to respond to the facility due to a reported theft.

When we called an asked about said incident we was told this happened in Perry County. All though we do not know the situation that occurred, accurate reporting is crucial for our community, and I urge everyone to share this correction to ensure that the right information circulates. If anyone has further questions or needs additional details, feel free to reach out.

In a photo we capture both vulnerability and hope, when a father gets to hold his newborn daughter for the very first time, even while in custody. This powerful photo shows raw emotions even when the backdrop is of the jail. Despite the circumstances, the joy and pride in his expression show, highlighting the overwhelming bond between parent and child. The baby’s adorable outfit, and a sweet headband, adds a touch of innocence to the scene, reminding us of new beginnings and the promise of a brighter future.
This first meeting may very well se forth change, inspiring him to strive for a brighter future—not only for himself but for his precious daughter.

It’s been a busy week. Best part was being able to get all of Blackey cut and trimmed up for Blackey days .. we have helped with this festival for several years and it just gets bigger and better ever year.. thanks to the people of Blackey for having us.. the men and women’s work release have cut several graveyards and helped with food box’s this week.. it’s been a busy week but a very productive week.. letcher county jail work release ….2026…..

Today the men and women’s work release along with the jailer and work release supervisors, helped get the beautiful town of blackey ready for Blackey days 2026… it was our pleasure to help and meet all the nice people who stopped by to just say hi or thank us for our help.. blackey days is this Friday and Saturday.
