Just a Reminder: The Public Works Department will be flushing fire hydrants and exercising water valves throughout the entire Borough next week - Starting in the Northeast corner and ending in the Southwest corner.
- This project will last less than 4 days.
- There will be no interruption to your water service for these days. - The water will remain safe and drinkable.
A few things to remember:
- If the tap water shows any sediment, bubbles, or discoloration. Run cold water for a few minutes allowing new water to work its way into your pipes. Cloudiness does not affect the water quality. It is still safe.
- If you notice them flushing the hydrants in your area, you may wish to refrain from washing clothing while flushing. This will avoid any potential discoloring in your laundry. If by chance you see this happen, do not dry the clothing.
- If your water pressure or volume seems low after flushing, check your faucet and washer screens for any trapped sediment (this can happen from changes in pressure).
- When a hydrant is opened, there will always be temporary discolored water containing fine sediment particles. There is no health hazard associated with discolored water.
- This is a yearly, routine project. A Call-All will occur Friday night as a reminder. If you did not receive the call, please contact the office to be added to the contact list.
Thanks.
