Thank you all for making our first ever One Book Shiawassee a great success and for providing a warm welcome to Angeline Boulley last Saturday. If you are able to attend the event on Saturday, or participate in the traveling books or other events, please take a moment to fill out this survey for the Michigan Humanities Council. Feedback helps them to continue to provide funding for programs like this one.

Join us NEXT Saturday, April 13th from 1:00pm - 2:30pm at the Lebowsky Center for Performing Arts for this special event! Our countywide One Book Shiawassee event culminates with a visit from Angeline Boulley, author of the award winning book, Firekeeper's Daughter!
The Cook Family Foundation, Shiawassee county libraries, and Michigan Humanities Council invite teens and adults to meet award winning author Angeline Boulley on April 13th at 1pm. The author presentation will take place at the Lebowsky Center for Performing Arts located at 122 E. Main St. in downtown Owosso. Doors will open for this free, open seating event at 12:00pm.
The author presentation will be followed by a brief question & answer time, and then book signing. Limited quantities of Firekeeper's Daughter and Warrior Girl Unearthed will be available for purchase.

As we think about what we read in our One Book Shiawassee Selection, we might also think about how what we see in movies influences our thoughts and the way we see Native American people in particular. Join us in Corunna for our Native American Powwow Dancers event! Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. The event will be held at the Community Center in McCurdy Park, Corunna. Reg Pettibone, member of the Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin, along with his wife Marca, from the Paiute Nation, present a unique and engaging cultural performance that amazes, entertains and educates. Reg, draws on his traditional upbringing to provide the audience with a better understanding of true native culture through dance, song, stories and audience participation.
