Last week K9 Delta and Ofc. Trevarthen attended the Jessiffany Canine Services Spring Games & Certification Event. K9 Delta and Ofc. Trevarthen competed in 12 different events with more than 50 other K9 teams.

K9 Delta and Ofc. Trevarthen earned 1st place in luggage detection, 2nd place in building search for man, and came in 9th place overall! K9 Delta's certification through the American Police Canine Association was also renewed.

Did you know that police K9s can be a tool for descalation?

In this video from last summer, Officer Trevarthen was driving by a Washington County Deputy who was assisting with a call and observed the suspect make a gesture consistent with accessing a weapon. The deputy responded appropriately and Officer Trevarthen deployed Delta to help stabilize the situation. Delta's voice helped the suspect see the error of his ways and convinced him to comply; he was taken into custody without incident or injury. Great work Delta and Officer Trevarthen!
