SNOWSTORM REMINDER:
significant snow is expected Monday through Tuesday. Please do not park on the left side of Lower High Street. If the residents on River Street could move their vehicles off the right side from the field down, the town crew would greatly appreciate it.

SPEED LIMIT CHANGE: Rt 207
after a traffic study and meetings with DOT the following speed limit changes will take place in the next coming month.
Reduction from 40 to 30, from the cemetary south to the area of Lucier Heights
Reduction from 30 to 25 from Lucier Heights to the intersection of 207/97.

Sprague Resident Trooper seeking information:

On 12/27/23 at approximately 0630hrs., an unknown subject forced entry into the Chelsea Groton Bank on Willimantic Rd., via the roof. The uknown subject attempted to gain access to the ATM machine but was unsuccessful. Two days prior, a white male, dressed in all black with full facial covering attempted to force access into the ATM via the vestibule. The unknown W/M at the time was operating the pictured White Toyota Camry and the incidents may be connected.The Resident Trooper is asking anyone in the area that may have seen anything suspicious please contact TFC Brian Sumner #743 @ 860-822-3000x207.

On 12/16 at approx 1300hrs., three unknown juveniles entered an unsecured, abandoned trailer that was recently bought. The trailer had been unoccupied for approx 8-9 years and nothing was taken. Any information can be left at 860-822-3000x207.

Seeking Information:
Earlier this morning, at approx 5am, an ATV was stolen from the Pautipaug Hill area and later recovered. If anyone has any information, please contact the Resident Trooper's office at 860-822-3000 extension 207. if you are advertising anything for sale, please be vigilant and securing/locking said item. If possible, the Resident Trooper recommends meeting at a Public location for the transaction.

UPDATE FROM STATE POLICE: TWO VICTIMS OF DOUBLE FATAL DROWNING INCIDENT IN SPRAGUE: State Police Investigate Drownings in Shetucket River

On Tuesday, 07/18/2023, at approximately 5:23 PM, Quinebaug Valley Dispatch advised Connecticut State Police Troop E in Montville of a report of a mother and child lost in the Shetucket River in the Park Drive area of Sprague. State Troopers, members of several area Fire Departments and EMS responded to the scene.

During the search, an adult female and a female child were located in the river by rescue crews and life saving efforts were initiated on-scene. Both the adult female and the child were subsequently transported by ambulance to William W. Backus Hospital.

The adult female, positively identified as, Kelly Dora, DOB 07/02/1984, of Norwich, was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The child, identified as Aralye McKeever, Age 5, was later transported to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, where she was pronounced deceased on 07/19/2023. Next of kin have been notified.

Based upon initial investigative findings, foul play is not suspected and these incidents will be investigated by State Police as untimely deaths. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) was notified and will conduct an investigation to determine cause and manner of death.

These investigations are ongoing and this is all of the information available for release at this time.

NOTICE:
Temporarily, swimming will be prohibited out at River Park. Due to the recent incident and heavy rains, it is unsafe at this time due to the strong current produced from the recent heavy rainfall. The water level and currents will be reviewed and residents will be updated on any changes.

 I will be out of the office until the end of next week starting tomorrow afternoon. Please call Troop E at 860-848-6500 for Police services. Last fiscal year stats were posted and Sprague saw an increase of over 150 calls from the year prior, totaling 1650 plus. There are open narcotics investigations and other criminal investigations being currently conducted. As always please call 911 in an emergency or 860-822-3000 x207 to reach the Resident Trooper.
