Commissioner and Former Mayor Huell Aekins was recognized for his years of service to the Town of Wade at the December 9, 2025 Town of Wade Swearing In Ceremony. Mayor Lanthorn presented Commissioner Aekins with a plaque & gift in recognition of his passion and commitment to the Town of Wade for 32 years.

The Town of Wade would like to thank Mr. Aekins for all of his hard work and support of the Town throughout the past 3 decades.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Town of Wade 2025 Swearing In Ceremony. We were fortunate to have several distinguished guests in attendance: Representative Diane Wheatley, Cumberland County Commissioner Henry Tyson, Cumberland County Commissioner Kirk DeViere, Cumberland County Communications Director Diane Rice, Cumberland County Sheriff Jonathan Morgan & Chief Deputy Jackson Broadus.

The Town would like to especially thank Representative Diane Wheatley for administering the oaths of office, Commissioner Kirk DeViere for the delivering an inspirational charge to the newly elected council and Rev. Johnnie Council & Rev. Steve Wilson for their heartfelt prayers.

Those in attendance were treated to a delicious variety of refreshments provided by S&S Concessions. Thank you Joe & Felicia Swann for all your hard work.

The Town of Wade 2025-2027 Board of Commissioners looks forward to proudly representing and serving the citizens of our Wade.
