Posey County Probation is currently accepting applications and resumes for a Probation Officer position.

POSITION SUMMARY
Serves as an Adult Probation Officer responsible for conducting investigations with clients, making recommendations to the courts, conducting assessments, utilizing evidence-based strategies to promote behavioral change, and supervising clients for enforcement of court orders and conditions of community supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES
*Serves at all times as an Officer of the Court.
*Utilizes and administers the Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS).
*Maintains appropriate communication with clients, legal representatives, treatment providers, placement agencies, and other concerned persons.
*Reviews documents pertaining to the legal and social history of clients.
*Testifies in court and makes appropriate recommendations.
*Conducts interviews with clients.
*Administers drug screens to clients.
*Conducts field visits in compliance with the Indiana Office of Court Services contact standards.
*Maintains collaboration between counselors, treatment agencies, public service agencies, placement agencies, etc., as required.
*Adheres to all Policies and Procedures of Posey County Probation and the Posey Circuit Court.
*Serves in other capacities and assignments as requested, required, and/or directed by the Chief Probation Officer, while always adhering to the department’s overall team philosophy and practice.

QUALIFICATIONS
*Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required; major in criminal justice, social work, or a related field preferred.
*Must not be less than 21 years of age and must be a U.S. citizen.
*Must believe that people are capable of behavior change.
*Must have the ability to work as a member of a team.
*Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*Must have knowledge of available community resources.

SALARY
Salary is based on the Indiana Minimum Salary Schedule for Probation Officers.
