The Westbrook Fire Department (Dept 4), otherwise known as “Westbrook Chemical Engine Company No. 1”, has provided fire, medical, maritime rescue, education and countless other services to the great town of Westbrook since its inception in 1921.

For only the 2nd time in its history, the Red Cross has declared a national blood crisis. Patients may already be impacted. Blood donations have fallen to a 4-year summer low. Donors, especially those with type O blood, are needed ASAP to help save lives: https://rcblood.org/donate

The Westbrook Fire Department is proud to congratulate Junior Firefighter Naomi Perrone-Gray on successfully graduating from the State of Connecticut Fire Academy Cadet Program – “Intro to the Fire Service.”

Over the course of this intensive week-long residential program, cadets live in the Academy barracks while developing essential firefighting knowledge, skills, discipline, and teamwork through hands-on training and classroom instruction.

Naomi was also selected as the program’s Honor Cadet, a distinction earned through outstanding leadership, professionalism, a consistently positive attitude, and giving maximum effort throughout the academy.

Naomi’s dedication, work ethic, and commitment to serving her community are a credit to herself, her family, and the Westbrook Fire Department. We are incredibly proud of all she has accomplished and look forward to watching her continue to grow in the fire service.

This morning at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Westbrook Fire Department was dispatched to a reported vehicle fire.
The first-arriving officer found a vehicle that was mostly involved, with fire extending into the surrounding brush. Upon Engine 2's arrival, crews stretched a handline, established a water supply, and quickly extinguished the fire.
There were no injuries. From the time of dispatch to water being applied to the fire was approximately 11 minutes.
