It was a busy weekend for your Westbrook Fire Department.
Crews responded to multiple incidents across town, including two motor vehicle accidents, one involving a vehicle striking a cement mailbox and another a rollover crash. We also handled a reported fire alarm, a marine-related call, and supported our community with four EMS responses.
Our EMS-trained professionals and firefighters were on the move all weekend, working together to keep everyone safe.
As always, we appreciate the continued support from our community. Stay safe, Westbrook!

This year once again The Westbrook Fire Department proudly participated in the New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade! Attending was our beautifully maintained 1921 Ford Model T Chemical Engine built by Combination Ladder in Providence, Rhode Island. Originally purchased brand new in 1921, and today, still looking like it just rolled off the line.

With the impending storm, we kindly ask for your help in clearing a 3-foot radius around any fire hydrants near your home. Keeping hydrants accessible can make a big difference in an emergency.
Please also be sure to keep the exhaust vents for your furnace, dryer, and any generators clear of snow and at a safe distance to prevent dangerous carbon monoxide buildup.
We will have crews on standby throughout the storm.
Please stay safe, stay warm, and avoid traveling unless absolutely necessary.

Home Safety Reminder from Westbrook Fire Department:
Smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are lifesavers. Every year in the U.S., there are hundreds of thousands of residential fires resulting in thousands of deaths and injuries, and more than 400 people die annually from carbon monoxide poisoning. Working detectors dramatically lower these risks by providing early warning so you and your loved ones can get out safely.
What you need to do:
✅ Install smoke alarms on every level of your home, inside bedrooms, and outside sleeping areas.
✅ Install carbon monoxide alarms on every level and outside sleeping areas.
✅ Test all alarms monthly.
✅ Replace the batteries at least once a year.
Dead or missing batteries are one of the most common reasons alarms fail when you need them most.

💛 A Little Girl’s Big Fight 💛
Just after celebrating her first birthday, Hazel was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer. In an instant, her world and her family’s world changed forever.
Because Hazel is so little, she must be placed under sedation for many of her medical tests, including MRIs, CAT scans, and MIBG whole-body scans, simply because she’s too young to understand that she needs to stay perfectly still. Moments like these are heartbreaking reminders of just how much she is facing at such a young age.
Hazel has begun chemotherapy and will face surgery in the months ahead. While doctors are hopeful and the cancer has not spread, the road forward includes long hospital days, frequent travel for specialized care, missed work, and mounting medical expenses. Through it all, her parents, Stacy and Fred, are doing everything they can to stay strong for Hazel and her 7-year-old sister, Paige.
No family should ever have to walk this journey alone.
We’re asking our community, near and far to keep Hazel and her family in your thoughts and prayers. If you’re able, please consider donating to help ease the financial burden so her parents can focus on what matters most: helping Hazel fight and heal.
Every share, every dollar, and every message of support truly makes a difference. ❤️

The Westbrook Fire Department assisted the Town of Clinton on a working fire assignment in the Town of Clinton. Tower 1 arrived as the first-due ladder company, positioning in the driveway of the residence. An additional Westbrook engine company also responded to support operations.
Thanks to a quick knock by Clinton Fire Department, crews were able to clear the scene promptly. Strong teamwork and coordination across departments made for an efficient and safe response.
