I arrived at the gun store this morning and found this parked at the front of our building. I can only assume it was put there by one of the businesses behind us.
Our parking lot is shared by three businesses, ours, Monroe County Battery, and a lawn service and we all have equal right to that space. The Lawn service especially likes to utilize that space to put vehicles for sale and ricks of firewood in the winter, therefore I normally would not be concerned to see something parked there, even one making a political statement. However, since I am campaigning for constable, I feel concerned that placing it here will cause people to assume that we are also campaigning for Jimbo Kile.
It has been very important to me that my followers see my campaign as neutral in regards to the sheriff campaign. A constable is supposed to be his own separate entity, who though maintaining a good working relationship with the sheriff, works independently. This should create a neutral ground so voters who disagree on who should be sheriff can still agree on who should be constable. Obviously, me having a large flamboyant campaign sign outside of my store does not promote such unity and risks ostracizing my supporters who support the other candidate.
I cannot make them move the vehicle parked in this picture, but I can, and will, politely request it.
Andrew Jacobus can have personal preferences making him a "Kile guy" or a "Jones guy", but Constable Jacobus cannot. He must strictly be a "Monroe County guy".
