I get the chance to meet some really wonderful people in this job. Senator Ratcliff and I first met Esteban when he was chosen to lead the Pledge of Allegiance at the State of Education address. We connected a few other times when I was visiting schools in Lake Mills. And just this weekend we joined in the celebration of his graduation!
The connections with constituents is what makes this job special!

On May 29, 1848, Wisconsin was admitted into the Union as the 30th state. Happy 178th Birthday, Wisconsin! I am so grateful to call this state home.

This morning I was thrilled to attend a Turnout for Transportation Roundtable hosted by the Transportation Development Association of Wisconsin. I got to participate in an insightful discussion with community leaders, industry partners, and local officials about the current condition of our transportation infrastructure and exciting opportunities for growth. Our transportation infrastructure impacts all of us and is vital to the success of our state’s economy. We must strive for an infrastructure that keeps our state safe, interconnected, and moving forward.

Had a blast today volunteering at The Bite of Reality fair. This app based simulation helps students understand real world financial decisions. Thank you to FCCU for providing this great opportunity and to my fellow volunteers for generously donating your time!

A few of my favorite Memorial Day traditions - started the day enjoying breakfast at the Cambridge WI Fire Department , then headed to Fort Atkinson for the parade and finished up at Evergreen Cemetery for what is always a very moving observance of the day. 🇺🇸

This morning I had the privilege of attending the 107th Annual Rock Day ceremony at Fort Atkinson High School. Held at the granite rock memorial outside of the high school, the ceremony commemorates members of the US military who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and recognizes current seniors at Fort Atkinson High School who will be joining the military. As we enter Memorial Day weekend, it is important to understand the reason behind the holiday and honor all those who have been lost protecting our freedoms.

County Executive Melissa Agard highlighted achievements from the past year in the first ever State of the County address today. Happy to hear all about the great projects and initiatives being implemented by an amazing County staff! Government works best when all levels of government collaborate and focus on the shared vision of making Wisconsin a place that works for everyone!

Today is National Rescue Dog Day! Observed annually on May 20th, National Rescue Dog Day brings awareness to dogs living in shelters or with foster families and encourages their adoption. There are so many amazing rescue dogs out there just waiting to be given a loving home. We rescued my dog Addie in 2022, and she has brought so much joy to my family. If you are looking to add to your family, please consider a rescue dog.

I had the opportunity to see this fun bunch of fourth graders when they visited the Capitol recently. Promised them I’d spend some time with them in their classroom, and that’s just what I did this week! Thank you to Crown of Life Christian Academy for the warm welcome!
