Wisconsin State Representative Ann Roe

Wisconsin State Representative Ann Roe State Representative for the 44th Assembly District. From Janesville, WI.

May is a whirlwind, and this week alone is just a fraction of the incredible energy moving through our community. We are currently in the midst of a "perfect storm" of celebrations as we honor our hardworking teachers and nurses, support our vibrant small businesses and tourism industry, and recognize the essential work of our municipal employees. In the middle of all this excitement, I had the distinct honor of presenting official citations to individuals within our very own community whose dedication to serving others is truly extraordinary.
Our office pledges to be open and accessible ALWAYS, because we want to be a resource you can lean on. Whether you come to visit me at the Capitol or approach me for a chat at the Farmers Market, I am here to ensure you get real information and engage in real conversations. Our guiding mission remains the same: we must do the most good, for the most people, with the resources we have.
Finally, I want to wish a very happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and women who are constantly guiding, teaching, and changing the world. On a personal note, I miss my mother every day and wish I still had the opportunity to hug her and talk to her. Please make sure to give your mothers some extra love this weekend and cherish those moments.

Today and EVERY day is a great time to share our appreciation for teachers. As a retired one myself, I am so grateful for the teachers I had and who my kids, friends, neighbors and family enjoyed. I hope you take time to think about teachers that impacted you. Sometimes it was the “tough” teacher who pushed or the teacher who gave you grace or extra time and saw you and your potential. Maybe both!
Thank you, teachers.

It’s always a great week to support small businesses— at the Janesville Farmers Market, Inc, downtown shops, restaurants and services— don’t forget other service businesses— small business owners work 24/7, worry 24/7 and give back to our communities 24/7.

It is a chilly, gray Thursday, and while the weather is gloomy, our focus remains on recovery. We are still in the midst of flood damage assessments, and I cannot stress this enough: please call 2-1-1 to report your damages. Whether you’ve lost a water heater, experienced basement flooding, or have already begun your own repairs, we need that data to build a case at the federal level!

This week, I was proud to host emergency management experts and meteorologists at the Capitol to brief legislators on the critical funding and policy changes needed to better serve Wisconsin during these increasingly severe weather events. Our goal was to educate legislators; especially those new to the floor, on how Emergency Management Services actually work and the funding mechanisms they rely on.

A huge thank you to the School District of Janesville for their magnificent work relocating Washington Elementary students and staff—their "we can do this" attitude ensures our kids are well taken care of. Please also keep the YWCA in your thoughts; they lost significant resources for their after-school programs during the flooding at Washington and could use our support.

I hope to see you all at the Farmers Market this weekend 🌸🌱

After last weekend’s horrific storms, it was a treat to be with people sharing in celebrations, commiserating over water damage and honoring Billy Bob Grahn. Stay in the light.

❓Were you impacted by the recent storms and flooding?

Rock County will be hosting a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) for Rock County residents on Saturday, April 25th from 10:00am – 4:00pm at Blackhawk Technical College.

A MARC is a temporary, one-stop service hub established to help those impacted by the recent storms and flooding.

The MARC brings together government agencies, nonprofits (like the Red Cross), and community organizations to provide:

• Disaster Recovery Support: Information on aid applications, guidance on damage repairs, and insurance information
• Essential Needs: Distribution of emergency supplies
• Health and Wellness: Mental health counseling and emotional support
• Case Management and Referrals: Referrals to local social services
• Personal Support: Help replacing documents, identity theft resources, and senior services

If you were affected by the recent storms and flooding, please join us at the MARC on Saturday, April 25th.
