Wow! What a victory Thursday night at the CARPC meeting. It was a real nail-biter, but 6 brave commissioners voted no on the Fitchburg Northeast Neighborhood application. 60 wonderful supporters come out in the cold to encourage the commissioners. Read the Cap Times story here: http://tinyurl.com/ls9ydpp

The process is not necessarily over, however, since the city of Fitchburg can now appeal the decision to the state Department of Natural Resources.

! Please come to the extremely important public hearings tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. at the Fitchburg City Hall, 5520 Lacy Rd. The CARPC (Capital Area Regional Planning Commission) will take public comments on whether Fitchburg should be able to develop its "Northeast Neighborhood," thus endangering the Waubesa Wetlands and Lake Waubesa, and its "North Stoner Prairie Neighborhood," paving over 242 acres of some of the best farmland in the world!
The meeting starts at 6:30 pm, but we think 8 is the earliest these items will come up. If you only have time to rush in, fill out 2 registration forms in opposition, and dash out, come any time from 6:30 to 9:30 and do so. But you'll have a bigger impact if you stay and listen, and even bigger if you speak! The Northeast Neighborhood hearing is 8.5 years in the making - please lend a hand at this crucial moment! Thanks to all.

Please watch our brand new 20-minute video, "Waubesa Wetlands in Danger" at http://vimeo.com/104251802. You'll see underwater footage of the amazing "Deep Spring" (25' deep and 15' across), plus turtles, black terns, and wetland scientists in their native habitat, and you'll learn what incredible services wetlands perform for us, and how you can help save this one from development threats.

Please share this widely and come to the CARPC hearing, to register in opposition to Fitchburg's application to develop its "Northeast Neighborhood." The hearing is Thurs., Sept. 11 around 8 p.m. at the Fitchburg City Hall, 5520 Lacy Rd. Please come and bring a friend who cares about clean water! For more info, check out our website at www.westwaubesa.org.

Help us protect the Waubesa Wetlands. Contact the CARPC Commissioners and ask them to deny Fitchburg's application to develop the Northeast Neighborhood. the risk…
