The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for a traffic safety saturation patrol running May 11th through May 31st.

During this enforcement period, deputies will be focusing on:
• Seatbelt violations
• Speeding
• Impaired driving

Expect to see increased law enforcement presence throughout Lake County as we work to keep our roads safe for everyone.

Even though South Dakota’s traffic fatality rate decreased from 2024 to 2025, too many lives are still lost in preventable crashes. According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, many fatal crashes continue to involve speeding, impaired driving, and occupants not wearing seatbelts.

Help us continue moving in the right direction and make South Dakota roads safer for everyone.
