✂️ EXCITING NEWS FOR DOWNTOWN MACON!

It’s always exciting to see new investments coming into our community, and I’m happy to share that Kade's Klips Barbershop owned by Kade Peaster is preparing to make Downtown Macon its new home!

I recently had the opportunity to speak with the owner about his plans for the new location and the renovations already underway. He currently operates in Brooksville and has built a strong clientele from Noxubee and communities throughout our surrounding area. His goal is to bring that same quality service to a full-time location right here in the heart of our city.

What makes this even more exciting is hearing that the renewed energy surrounding the revitalization of Downtown Macon played a part in his decision to invest here. That’s exactly the kind of momentum we want to continue building.

The historic character of the building previously owned by Tim-Sharon Gowan is being preserved while receiving a fresh new look, and plans are for Kade’s Klips Barbershop to open by the end of the year, possibly sooner.

Every new business, renovated building, and investment in our downtown brings us another step closer to the Macon we know is possible.

On behalf of the City of Macon, I want to welcome Kade’s Klips to Downtown Macon and thank them for choosing to invest in our community. We look forward to the grand opening!

Today, as we pause to remember September 11, we also take time to honor and thank those who serve and protect our communities each day.

A special thank you to the wonderful ladies of the Dancing Rabbit Chapter of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution), Mrs. Melanie Thomas and Mrs. Rosemary Harrell, who stopped by City Hall today to show love and appreciation to our first responders.

Their beautiful smiles and warm spirits brightened the atmosphere from the moment they walked through the doors. Gestures like this remind us of the importance of community, gratitude, and never forgetting the sacrifices made by so many.

Thank you, ladies, for taking the time to celebrate our first responders and remind them just how much they are appreciated.

ANOTHER HAPPY CITIZEN! 🏡

While I was seeking election, Mr. Edward Boyd met with me about a City sewer line running across his property that caused waste to settle there during heavy rains. He shared that he had tried to get the issue addressed under the previous two administrations but had no luck.

I assured him that I would look into it, but as always, I couldn’t make any promises.

After taking office, the issue was presented to the Board and assessed by our Street Department. Last week, work began on the infrastructure project, and today it is nearing completion!

It always feels good to see a happy citizen and another issue being addressed in our community. Sometimes making a difference is simply listening, following through, and working together to get the job done.

Shout-out to Commissioner Jackson and his department for their work on this project and Alderman Harmon for supervising.

One project and one citizen at a time, we’re continuing !

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to welcome a childhood friend of mine back home to our medical complex here in Macon. He always dreamed of becoming a doctor, and watching his journey has been amazing. We never imagined that years later, I would be the Mayor of our city and he would be returning as a medical doctor. Dantwan Smith, I am one proud friend. Our Pinneywoods Days feel like just yesterday. Let's make a difference in our city and county.

Great seeing everyone at the Macon Mixer this evening! Christy shared more about Main Street Macon and the exciting work ahead as we continue our downtown revitalization journey.

It was wonderful to see citizens, business owners, community leaders, and local officials all in one room-connecting, sharing ideas, enjoying conversations, and simply having a good time together.

I love the unity and renewed energy forming throughout our community. When we come together, communicate, and work toward a common vision, we are truly MACON A Difference!

I'm already looking forward to the next Macon Mixer!
