We’re so excited to share our first peek into this year’s Annual Grief Support Camp, held at the end of July! 💙

There’s something comforting about a gooey, golden s’more — and at camp, it’s more than just a treat. It’s a moment of connection, laughter, and joy in the midst of healing.

These sweet moments around the campfire remind us that even in grief, there’s room for warmth, community, and a little bit of sticky-fingered fun. 🍫🔥

Stay tuned for more glimpses into this unforgettable time of support, growth, and togetherness.

Bedford Mental Health Movie Night was a powerful evening centered on emotional wellness for kids and families. Huge thanks to Horizon Behavioral Health for hosting a special screening of Inside Out 2 — a film that beautifully explores complex emotions like joy, sadness, and anxiety. 💙

At Kids Haven, we know that grief doesn’t just affect adults — children grieve too, and they need safe spaces to express those feelings. From making feelings bracelets to talking about the hard stuff, tonight was a reminder that healing starts with connection.

Kids’ Haven offers grief support services to children and their families who have suffered the loss of someone important in their lives. The key words are support and service which are two significant values that our City Council members should consider when making cuts to the FY2026 budget.

The General Burial Relief Assistance Program is of particular importance to Kids’ Haven. This program provides for those without means – our city’s most vulnerable – to be treated with dignity and grace as they are laid to rest. Are we really reduced to a society (city) that we deny families and loved ones the closure they need? Kids’ Haven works every day to support and guide children and families, regardless of their socioeconomic class, with the tools they need to successfully navigate their grief journeys. Abandoning this program is not only callous in the treatment of the deceased but also the people who grieve for them.

As April Watson, Deputy Director of Human Services stated, “Our values as a city are reflected not just in how we celebrate life, but in how we honor its end. This is a matter of dignity, decency, and community responsibility. Let’s urge our city leaders to protect this program. We are better when we care for all our neighbors—from birth to death.” 🦋
