Some of my favorite services that we offer:

🪴On call service that starts right away. We don't want you to wait until week 36 or 37 to reach out to us for questions, concerns or someone to talk to.

🪴 Back up doula : every client gets a back up in case of a rare emergency where your primary couldn't be there. You get to know her during your pregnancy as well so it's a welcome familiar face.

🪴Sprititual encouragement & prayer support: we welcome anyone to our business, but truly believe that people are complex beings made in the image of God with a need for spiritual encouragement. Our entire team will be praying for you and your family during your pregnancy, birth and recovery.

🪴Local professional resource list for all things motherhood and pregnancy: our team and clients over the years have created a list of Healthcare professionals you can get connected with for whatever your need. Pelvic floor therapist? Lactation consultants? Massages for whatever phase of motherhood you are in? Counseling support? Craniosacral therapy? Chiropractor?

We have found that not all providers offer the quality care you deserve so we have some of the best rated ones to refer you to if necessary!

🪴 Evidence-based educational resources: I am firm believer that every person deserves to know all the benefits and risks of whatever path they choose. Years of working as a critical nurse taught me that people need someone they can trust to be there to help them, make them feel safe, but also be honest with them and not keep things from them cause it might be hard or scary. We walk through those moments with you, helping you feel secure, safe and supported.

If someone on our team has done that for you it is reward enough for us!

Thank you for choosing us to support you during such an exciting time of life!

6 weeks

6 weeks is not when your recovery ends or you are back to a pre pregnancy state

In reality its just the tip of the iceberg for healing, recovery and rebuilding

Obligations still minimal

Expectations flexible

Activity and rest balance

Body image encouragement is really important here

You start to feel more like yourself, but it took 9+ months to change

It makes sense to at least give yourself 9+ months to look different

To be honest, its hard to be patient and love every phase and shape you miraculously get to experience as a mother

We all need reminding and encouraging

🚨 NEWS: Could Tylenol/Acetaminophen use in pregnancy impact future reproductive health in girls?

It's a discussion worth having BUT it doesn't yet change practice guidelines. Why? Benefit vs risk.

Tylenol has long been labeled safe for use in pregnancy. But we have always encouraged using only as indicted. Using medication when not clearly warranted creates a potential risk exposure without clear benefit.

Another reason for no changes is this was a very small sample of women within a small demographic. Less than 700 women from Denmark.

"The study found that girls exposed to acetaminophen in the womb had, on average, 40% smaller ovarian volume, 13% smaller uterine volume and 23% fewer ovarian follicles — the structures that contain immature eggs — compared with girls whose mothers did not use acetaminophen during pregnancy. They also showed lower levels of a hormone linked to ovarian reserve."

Those results warrant more research but it isn't enough to say never use Tylenol. Why?

"Acetaminophen has long been known as the safest over-the-counter option to treat fever or pain during pregnancy, although doctors advise using it in moderation and only when necessary. An untreated fever can endanger both mother and fetus, possibly leading tobirth defects
ormiscarriage."

This is where the benefit risk balance occurs. If you have a very mild ache where rest, ice, etc., might help, it could be worth trying that before grabbing Tylenol. However, if you have a fever, we knows fevers themselves can cause serious complications in pregnancy thus making the benefit of Tylenol worth these potential unknown risks.

Short version, a small study shows a possible risk with Tylenol use. Maybe don't grab Tylenol as a first cure all for discomfort. But, when indicated for true pain or fevers, it has known benefits which outweigh unknown risks.

If you have concerns about medication, always check with your midwife, doctor, or pharmacist.

Still reminiscing over this beautiful birth experience...

Over the years I have found that birth needs some very important things to progress safely and smoothly.

Every birth is different, but many of these are essential to every mother's birth experience being a positive one:

1. Space to feel all the emotions (forcing emotions down or away for appearances or other's benefit can make things even harder)

2. A support team not afraid to be patient

3. Interventions only when truly necessary

4. Quiet, calm environment ( even if things don't go according to your plan). A prepared professional remains calm and composed even when intervening for the mother or baby and working quickly.

5. Nourishment ( digesting and resting keep stress hormones in check allowing for good hormone support)

6. Agenda free zone ( providers who are looking for a quick easy way out or to save time or make more money will not put the patient first and can lead to very unnecessary Interventions meaning more risks for mom and baby)

7. Mom free to lead by intuition ( even first time moms have a built in design by God to birth their baby. This intuition is so valuable and deserves time and support to be free during birth)

So grateful for my team ❤️

Client testimonial 💖💖

Such a joy and honor to support clients a second time around 💕💕

"Havilah was fantastic! She helped make my plan work for me. For birth number 3 I knew what to expect but having a doula takes off so much pressure to do it on your own. My husband and Havilah were able to help me with the pain and give me options to change things up when needed. Baby was also face up going in so Havilah was able to help us turn her before birth. It was a great experience knowing my body was capable of birthing and listening to the cues that she was coming while knowing I had the full support of my birth team. What makes a doula so valuable is their care for not just mom and baby but my family. I took my other kids to meetings with her and my mom was at the birth- Havilah treated them with such love and care as she gave me. A doula realizes the need for a community when giving birth and strives to make sure you have that every 💕💕step of the way!"

Postpartum recovery can be a beautiful time of rest and rebuilding

Here are some of my current daily items that I am finding make this phase more pleasant and easier.

Nourishing my body is definitely the biggest game changers, but these things make the goal to rest and heal so much nicer, plus they are healthier options as they are low tox and supportive of your body's natural healing process.
