Candidate Filing Deadline Reminder for LOCAL OFFICE:

Anyone who intends to be on the November 3rd ballot for the Kenbridge or Victoria Town Council (3 seats each locality) or Mayor (1 seat per town) must file all required paperwork with the General Registrar's Office by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16th. Candidate packets are available from the Virginia Department of Elections website or an in-person pickup/completion at the Registrar's office.

Pursuant to an order by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, effective June 1st, individuals in the Commonwealth with a felony conviction can only lose their voting rights if convicted of an offense that existed as a common law felony in 1870. If an individual has a felony conviction that is not an applicable common law felony, they may be eligible to register to vote upon further evaluation. Visit the new ELECT website that displays updated voter eligibility information for individuals with felony conviction (link in comments below).
