Honor roll is calculated for seventh and eighth grade students every quarter and for sixth grade in the second, third, and fourth quarters. Special Honor students must have an A-, A, or A+ in every subject reported that quarter, including special areas. Dear Families and Community Members,

What a year it has been. When I accepted the role of your superintendent, the recruitment materials described the position as "dynamic." I have since learned that in school district leadership, "dynamic" is a polite translation for: "Hold onto your seat, because we are going for a ride." My first year started at a full sprint and, to be completely candid, I still haven't quite figured out how to use the brakes.

But more than anything, my overriding reflection of these past ten months is how incredibly grateful I am to have shared this ride with you. When we began last fall, we talked about a simple goal: being "one community." Looking back, we didn't just talk about that idea; we actually lived it.

Getting to know a community means sharing in the hard times alongside the good. This year, we were tested in ways none of us could have predicted. We faced literal fire on our very first day of school, navigated the heavy disappointment and complex conversations of a failed override, and mourned the heartbreaking loss of cherished members of our school family. Yet, through every single trial, our bond didn't break. In those quiet, difficult moments, I saw what this community is truly made of. We showed up for each other, and we held each other up.

But our year was also filled with moments of pure, unadulterated joy. We cheered on our student-athletes as they won championships and made school history. We packed our auditoriums and galleries, completely blown away by the depth of talent on display at our art shows and musical performances (while those of us who struggle to draw a stick figure or carry a tune looked on in absolute awe). We lined the streets for the homecoming parade, marveling at the creative engineering (and quietly praying for the structural integrity) of the floats our kids built while the whole town came out to celebrate together. We stood in awe as our seniors walked across the stage at graduation, and we shared in the beautifully chaotic, high-decibel fun of field days and class trips.

Through all the ups and downs, what stood out to me most was how we treated one another. We chose empathy and kindness. We gave each other grace when things got messy, always remembering that behind every role we play—parent, educator, neighbor—we are all just human.

Thank you for welcoming me into your schools, your community, and your lives during my first year. It has been a whirlwind, challenging, and deeply moving experience, and I could not be prouder to stand with you.

As we head into the break, I wish you all a restful, safe, and happy summer. And to the parents currently bracing themselves to hear the words "I'm bored" on a continuous, high-volume loop starting roughly twelve minutes into summer break: I see you, I salute you, and may your coffee be incredibly strong.

Here’s to the bright future ahead of us as one community standing resilient and strong.

We are very excited to announce that Lunenburg was well represented at Massachusetts Girls State in Boston this past week!

Each year Massachusetts Girls State selects two girls from ALL of the state participants to go on to ALA Girls NATION, an elite weeklong civic training program where high school girls participate in a mock federal legislature.

Our own Monica Faragalla was one of the two students selected to represent Massachusetts at Girls Nation!! She will travel to Washington, D.C., from July 18 to July 25, 2026.

Participating as Senator Faragalla, she and other participants will introduce and debate bills, run mock political campaigns, and elect an ALA Girls Nation President and Vice President.

We are wishing Monica all the best on this very exciting opportunity!!

To Our District Staff and Union Family,

During the incredibly difficult time following the loss of our beloved student, Haddie, we were surrounded by an outpouring of kindness, compassion, and support that we will never forget.

Thank you to everyone who stepped in to cover classes, allowing us the time and space to attend services, support one another, and honor Haddie's memory. Your willingness to help ensured that we could be present where we needed to be most during a time of profound grief.

We are also deeply grateful for the beautiful flower arrangement bar that was created for staff. It provided an opportunity for us to come together, smile and create beautiful arrangements together. The thoughtfulness and care behind this gesture brought light to an otherwise heartbreaking time.

The strength of our district community and union family was evident in every act of support, every kind word, and every helping hand. Your generosity reminded us that we do not carry our grief alone.

Thank you for standing beside us, lifting us up, and showing such extraordinary care for both our staff and our students. Your compassion has made a lasting difference and will always be remembered.

The School Committee meeting previously scheduled for this evening is canceled. A new School Committee meeting for the end of the school year will take place on Wednesday, 6/24 at 7pm in the LMS Collaborative Room .

This year Mrs. Vallee's Grade 7 Library Enrichment classes mixed history, cartography, and cryptography with a dash of treasure hunting! Students learned how to read current and historical maps, and how to use and solve various types of ciphers. They learned about George Washington's Culper Spy Ring and local Lunenburg history. Then students used their new skills to work together as teams, solving clues in a hands-on, puzzle-solving BreakoutEDU activity with an American Revolution theme and Jolly Rancher treasure. This was a fun way to learn critical thinking skills and celebrate our country's 250th anniversary!

11th grade students wrote Civil Rights Picture Books and shared them with Fifth Grade Students at Turkey Hill Elementary School. They all engaged in a conversation after on Civil Rights and the importance of studying that history.
