Friday Feature: "Flock of Finns" by Black folk artist, Marvin Finn (1913-2007).

Finn's first works were toys that he decided to make for himself growing up in Clio, Alabama. After moving to Louisville and marrying, he continued to make toys for his children, building a large collection of animals and machinery from his family farm. Finn's designs were later brough to life by Hick's Equipment and painted by artist Melissa Wilson in 2000-2001. Stop by east Witherspoon Street and find your favorite!

"I didn't learn this out of no book. I had to leave school in the first grade to go to the field to work. But I had a hobby of drawing and painting, and I could whittle and build. And I had my imagination" - Marvin Finn

Friday Feature: Louisville Windchime Gateway (1988), by Jasper D. Ward and Gregory Paul Schrodt.

This aluminum work is a perfect example of where public art and architecture can meet to activate an otherwise ordinary space. This sculpture is a part of the PARC garage located along South 7th Street downtown.
