Louisville Metro animal services on Newburg Road is DESPERATE for help!!

They are out of space.

The shelter is overcrowded, and are having to make HEARTBREAKING decisions about dogs’ lives simply because they don’t have enough room.

Fostering can save a life. They provide everything you need—you just provide a safe place and some love.

🦝🚨 Emergency Vet Fundraiser for a Sweet Raccoon 🚨🦝

On Sunday night, this sweet raccoon was found barely able to move, drooling, and showing signs that initially appeared to be paralysis. Since bringing her into care, I've continued to monitor her closely. She is able to move all four of her legs, but only very weakly, which makes it difficult to determine exactly what's going on without further diagnostics.

At this point, she urgently needs X-rays and a veterinary evaluation so we can identify the cause of her condition and determine the best course of treatment. As a wildlife rehabilitator, I do everything I can for the animals in my care, but veterinary expenses can add up quickly, and I'm asking for help to get this girl the medical attention she needs.

I temporarily have these three sweet babies (two boys and one girl) while I search for another rehab to take them in. With my 10-hour work shifts, I know they’d do best with someone who can give them more time and attention. I really wish I could keep rehabbing them myself ❤️😞

The finder called everywhere, but no one had room. A couple of days later, I stepped in because I couldn’t stop worrying about what condition they might end up in otherwise. When they arrived, they were constipated, underweight, and absolutely starving.

Thankfully, they’re doing so much better now and are thriving ❤️

Update 4/23:
Lil guy unfortunately passed away in the middle of the night. He had internal maggots which were fatal in his case...rest in peace 🙏

Took this little guy in as there were no other options at the moment and he definitely needed sub q fluids. Plus his eyes were covered in maggots!
Sometimes you just can't say no..
But will have to find a rehab tomorrow or ASAP since I can't feed him 4/5 times a day. I'm just glad he was able to get the fluid he needed and will be stable until then.

Not every intake is going to have a happy ending.
This lil one came to me barely moving and curled up in a ball. I assessed him and knew something wasn't right.
I Gave him some fluids and karo syrup and that helped pep him up! But unfortunately that wasn't enough. I believe he had internal bleeding and a broken arm.

I had him for two hours before he passed..

It's hard seeing an animal shine for a minute but then you go to check on them and they turn for the worse. You can't help to feel like it's your fault. This is the rehab world and these are the hard times.
