The Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus condemns the passage of SB 121, a congressional redistricting map that dismantles one of Louisiana’s two majority-Black congressional districts and creates a proposed 5-1 Republican congressional advantage. The Caucus remains committed to protecting fair representation and ensuring Louisiana’s congressional maps reflect the diversity and dignity of all its people.

Rep. Miller broke down why fair representation makes . In a state where nearly half of the budget is supported by federal dollars, maintaining congressional representation matters. These maps determine which communities receive resources, investment, and a voice in the decisions that shape their future.

During testimony today, he explained that with the support of Congressman Fields, his parish has finally seen long-overdue investments in infrastructure and opportunity after years of being overlooked without dedicated congressional representation. This is why these maps matter.
