I AM NOT RUNNING FOR ANYTHING IN 2023.

If anyone tells you that I am running for Mayor-President, or any other elected office in 2023 -- they have no idea what they are talking about.

I have made absolutely clear to Mayor-President Guillory, Councilman Josh Carlson, and all of my colleagues, that I will not be a candidate for any office in 2023.

I have also made this clear to my family and any of my constituents who have asked. It's more than a little bit curious how these rumors keep taking on a life of their own.

I am totally focused on doing the best job I can for the people of my district in my last year in office. Beyond that, I am committed to my family, my work, and my music. Period.

I love Lafayette Parish, and I wish all candidates well in the coming elections. I have served three terms on our council, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve our community in a different way in the years to come.

KEVIN NAQUIN & CAJUN PRESERVATION: TRADITIONAL MUSIC UNPLUGGED.

I am proud to share the release of my new album on Swallow Records! This work focuses on the musical roots of my family, going back to my great-grandfathers, Hadley Fontenot and Edius Naquin. It's an opportunity to explore the origins of our unique relationship to music here in Acadiana -- our passion that is part of the fabric of daily life. We may have more musicians per capita here than anywhere else.

I will be at Festivals Acadiens et Creoles this weekend if you would like to visit and get yours!

Kevin Naquin & Cajun Preservation - LA MUSIQUE TRADITIONNELLE DEBRANCHEE

In this album, Kevin returns to his early traditional influences. He grew up listening to Don and Adolice Montoucet, his baby-sitters when he was a kid, as well as the music of his own family tradition, including great-grandfathers Hadley Fontenot and Edius Naquin. Naquin recorded a number of ballad and fiddle tunes for folklorists Harry Oster and Ralph Rinzler in the 1950s and 60s. Fontenot played accordion and recorded with the Balfa Brothers back in the 1970s, including their landmark first Swallow album., THE BALFA BROTHERS PLAY TRADITIONAL CAJUN MUSIC. There’s more than a bit of Balfa influence here as well.

Kevin still enjoys playing the complex, high-energy arrangements his Ossun Playboys are known for. But he also loves sitting down and playing and singing the old stuff straight up with his friends for the pure joy of it all. Make no mistake, the music still swings, with twin fiddle rides by Beau Thomas and Cameron Fontenot and tight harmonies by Jimmy Hebert and Blasien LeBlanc, and there still a drive from Blasien’s brushes, Jimmy’s bass and Tony Daigle’s triangle, but it’s more playing to play, playing for listeners, sitting on somebody’s back porch waiting for the meat to be smoked, the fish to be fried or the crawfish to be boiled, or in somebody’s kitchen waiting for the gumbo or the etouffee to be ready. I am excited to be working with Pastor Bobby Richard, and Joe Castille, on the development of Parish PAC. I believe we will benefit from a broad-based discussion about the future of our parish and its leadership.

I really enjoyed visiting with my friend, Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser today. We had an opportunity to talk about his future plans, and the relationship between being competitive in tourism, and competing for businesses, talent, and investment. It was great to share about my collection of cajun music coming out this Fall. I really appreciate his support for our Cajun culture and heritage.

My good friend, Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser, has confirmed that he will become a candidate for governor, after the mid-term elections this Fall.

Billy understands that many of the same factors that make us more desirable for tourism are the same things that make us more attractive for business, investment capital, and job creation.

I look forward to next year, when Louisiana will choose leaders at all levels, to guide us for the next four years. We have important choices to make, to ensure a safer, more prosperous future for our people and out state.

Let the games begin. Louisiana Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser has jumped out and told a crowd in south Louisiana he is planning to run for Governor in 2023.
