Fourteen years ago on the third Monday night in November, I attended my very first council meeting in Louisburg. Three of my classmates and I had been selected to represent the town at a youth summit hosted by the NC League of Municipalities a few weeks before & we'd been invited to the following meeting for a brief recognition. I still have the certificate, it turns out!

I don't recall a whole lot about that meeting other than a few of those serving, but I do remember being struck by how honestly neat it was to watch familiar faces take time out of their lives to come together and work for something greater, even if the something greater that week was "just" discussing public works maintenance or minor zoning tweaks.

I didn't understand at the time the significance of sending a bunch of teenagers on a Saturday day trip to Pitt County, but now I think I do. Investing in our youth is just as vital for the future as any comprehensive plan or budget session. Make an effort to show they're valued members of their home community even as teens and they may just surprise you as adults!

Wow! 471 of you took a chance on a young political newcomer this election. Those numbers are truly humbling.

I'd like to thank every volunteer who helped knock on doors, make phone calls, write letters, and simply get the word out about the vision I shared with two of my fellow candidates for our town. I'd also like to thank each and every one of the voters who placed their faith in us. We couldn't have done this without your support.

We will be sworn in at the December council meeting. I can't wait to get to work for you, Louisburg!

ATTENTION FRIDAY NIGHT ON THE TAR ATTENDEES!

The reason for the change is unclear at this time, but please stay safe out there tonight! This is a big difference from what we're used to at FNotT, for children especially.

I'll share updates here if I learn anything has changed regarding plans for street closure or direction of traffic.

Hi! I'm Kim and I'm excited to annouce I'll be running for town council here in Louisburg this 2023 election season. Some of you may know me already and I look forward to getting to know many more of you in the coming months, but in the meantime, please allow me to share a little bit about myself.

WHO AM I?

I'm a Louisburg native, born and raised, with family history on all sides dating back to the founding of our little town. I can truly say I've never dreamed of living anywhere else, having returned home to stay as soon as I could after beginning a career in Raleigh. My family is here, my past is here, and my future is here as well.

I love most everything about Louisburg, but most of all I love our community. The people here are what make it all work. I love that I can meet new friends and reconnect with old ones by just stepping out the door and taking a walk down the street.

WHY TOWN COUNCIL?

While I love our town as it is, I also dream of seeing it grow and thrive. If elected to serve on the next council, I'd like to help continue efforts to revitalize our historic downtown with an emphasis on supporting small business, both current and new. A healthy mix of dining, entertainment, and retail is just the recipe to draw people in where they can fall in love with our town as well. I also support expanding our recreation opportunities, whether that's greenways & trails, public sports facilities, or collaboration with others to bring larger projects to our county. I firmly believe these dreams can be made real with proper planning, action, and dedication. Most of all, my goal is to listen to my neighbors and let their voices be heard as we build a better community together.

I'd be honored by the privilege to serve the people in this town if elected & already deeply appreciate your consideration alone. Keep an eye out for me around town, let's get to know each other πŸ™‚
