COLONIE — Kevin Franklin’s passion for history didn’t start in a classroom. It began with his father.

The CHS 250 Committee: Kristi Dariano, Tony Brankman, Michelle Toch Dinsmore, and Michael Radlick participated in a wreath-laying ceremony honoring the Henry Knox Noble Train of Artillery trail markers!

We joined forces with the Albany County Revolutionary War 250 Committee and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to place wreaths at the four markers in Albany County historic sites. We are proud to commemorate in a pivotal moment in our nation's founding.

For those unfamiliar, the Knox Trail markers trace the incredible 300-mile winter journey led by Colonel Henry Knox in 1775-1776 during the Revolutionary War. Knox and his team hauled 59 cannons and mortars from Fort Ticonderoga and Crown Point in New York all the way to Boston, Massachusetts, providing crucial artillery that helped George Washington drive the British out of the city. There are 56 markers in total—30 in New York and 26 in Massachusetts—each marking key points along this grueling route through snow and rugged terrain and icy rivers. Two of these markers are right here in the Town of Colonie: one at 1258 New Loudon Road and another at 206 Old Loudon Road in Latham. Swing by and check them out—they're a tangible link to our Revolutionary heritage!
