Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has inaugurated Balochistan's first ever Peoples Air Ambulance service, alongside 11 other public welfare and healthcare projects launched at the Quetta Chief Minister Secretariat.
The white-and-red Peoples Air Ambulance aircraft is designed to airlift critically ill patients from remote areas of Balochistan to major hospitals in larger cities, cutting emergency response times across one of Pakistan's most underdeveloped provinces.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said healthcare is a basic right of every citizen and not a privilege, calling free and quality medical treatment a core PPP commitment.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said the day marked an important step toward reshaping the future of Balochistan's people, alongside the launch of the 150 bed Quetta Trauma Centre, Benazir Ambulance Service expansion, basic health unit upgrades and a digital healthcare system across the province.
For Pakistan it makes Balochistan the latest province after Punjab and Sindh to operationalise an air ambulance, marking a major step in expanding emergency-medical air coverage across the country.
