Today, Al “Action” Jackson hangs up his headset for the last time.

Al started out his Public Safety adventure in 1976 as a LACoFD Fire Explorer in Battalion 13. Over the years, Al was a Call Firefighter in Johnson Valley, Reserve Firefighter/Engineer in Hesperia, Dispatcher at BDC Comm Center, and finally landed back at LACoFD Command & Control. During his 32 1/2 years at LACC, he rose to the rank of Supervising Fire Dispatcher. Al’s knowledge in Public Safety Communications was always instrumental throughout his career, including his involvement of the yearly publication “TMAC” and numerous “MTZ” comm plans.

This afternoon, Al will be “the voice of LA” one last time on Countywide Dispatch U-1. There may even be some old school Quickcall I tones!

Congratulations on a great career, Action. Thank you for your passion and love for this great Department. We’ll miss you!

🎙️LA Clear, KMG941.

Your is deeply saddened at the unexpected passing today of Fire Dispatcher II Sergio Escobedo at the age of 43.

Sergio was a United States Air Force veteran, and gave 15 years of dedicated and faithful service to the Department.

Sergio loved the Dodgers, and was always ready to share his endless supply of candy. He will be deeply missed by his dispatch family as he always brought laughs with his sense of humor.
