Detectives are investigating the 8th criminal homicide in Rampart Division of 2014. A male was shot and killed near the 400 block of Witmer St at approximately 1:30 AM Sunday morning. Police Thursday sought the public's help in finding vandals who apparently uprooted dozens of fruit trees planted by a group of Southland students in MacArthur Park.

Great job helping prevent violent crime in LAPD Rampart Division!
The community just got a little safer.

Update: LAPD Rampart Officers working the Bike Unit arrested a gang member with a stolen, loaded handgun on the block of 400 S. Witmer St. Great job guys! No doubt the Bike Unit prevented some violent crimes from being committed in the Rampart Area.
