It’s important for us seniors to stay engaged! I was invited to join Peninsula Seniors yesterday for their monthly Bohannon Lecture Series. We talked about my work in Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall, why we need a Water Taxi for the 2028 Olympics, and I answered their questions on everything from how we can better help seniors who no longer drive to prepping for El Niño.

Today I invited Rabbi Julia Knobloch from Temple Beth El in San Pedro to lead us in the invocation at our board meeting.
 
One thing I admire about Rabbi Julia is how she uses her work to create spaces that feel safe, open, hospitable, and joyful—and I am grateful that for the past two years, she has invited me to the Temple during the High Holy Days service where I had the honor of reading a prayer.
 
Rabbi Julia, thank you for leading us in the invocation this morning and for your dedication to serving others.

Yesterday I joined , along with friends and partners from across the 30th Senate District, for his State of the State address in Norwalk.

It was great to hear about the challenges facing California and how we are tackling them, the progress being made in Sacramento, and Bob's vision for the future of our state.

This is voter intimidation and a blatant attempt to undermine trust in our midterm elections.

These arrests are being used to paint a picture of widespread voter fraud when we know that is not the case. California has laws in place to protect the integrity of our elections, and LA County is fully abiding by them.

I urge everyone not to let these tactics keep you from exercising your right to vote. Vote early and remember that you can safely cast your ballot from home with your vote-by-mail ballot or safely drop your ballot at a ballot drop box.

The flooding Long Beach experienced over the weekend was devastating.
 
I’ve asked Jeff Prang to make sure we are providing tax relief to people who lost their homes, and we as a County are doing everything we can with our cities to prepare for more impacts from El Niño.
