Black Surfing Network

Black Surfing Network Where the Surf and Soul Connect.

"We are a community of surfers from African descent, who have chosen to enrich our lives and the lives of others through the sport and art of surfing." Our goals are therefore to:

• Promote awareness of and provide education about Black surfing worldwide.
• To promote and encourage the sport/art of surfing to otherwise marginalized communities in Los Angeles.
• Provide meaningful ways for surfers

of African descent to strengthen their sense of belonging with each other, with the traditional surfing community and with our ocean.
• Mentor novice surfers to improve their techniques as well as helping them to pursue other resources to support their surfing aspirations.
• Pursue ocean conservation and education.

I'm so excited about getting my issue of "Thrasher Magazine" and to read the stories of these legendary Black skaters. I've always appreciated history and this issue gives me a chance to have a real Black History lesson. I'm especially proud of my God brother, Marty Grimes for his contributions.

Our CEO and Hall of Fame inductee Marty Grimes is on the cover of Thrasher Mag! We are proud to be apart of a beautiful opportunity for all individuals to get an insight into the world we know and love. We would like to give a special thanks to well as for immortalizing our mentality and paying homage to our history.
