City of Lakewood, Election Day Parking Information

No street-sweeping parking tickets in Lakewood near polling places on Nov. 6

Tuesday, Nov. 6 is election day, with polling places open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday is street-sweeping day in the eastern area of Lakewood. While street-sweeping will still take place in that area of the city on Tuesday, the city will not issue street-sweeping-related parking citations within 100 yards of the front of a polling location.

"We want to make it easy for residents to exercise their right to vote without worrying about getting a parking ticket," said Lakewood's Administrative Services Director Jose Gomez.

The exemption from street-sweeping-related parking tickets on election day does not mean that drivers can park in red zones or in other prohibited manners on election day. Those actions will result in a citation.
