Coalition for Jobs and Attainable Housing

Coalition for Jobs and Attainable Housing The Coalition for Jobs and Attainable Housing (CJAH) is a coalition of community- based organizations, businesses, non-profits and individual stakeholders.

Increasingly, residents in Los Angeles are finding home ownership unattainable. Middle and lower income earners are simply being priced out of our city. More and more people are forced to spend an alarming percentage of their income on housing. The unaffordability of homes has driven up rents to such a degree that nearly 60% of Angelenos are unable to afford their rent. Several public policy initi

atives have been proposed to address the need for more affordable housing. The Coalition for Jobs and Attainable Housing (CJAH) is a coalition of community- based organizations, businesses, non-profits and individual stakeholders that evaluates how proposed legislation will affect small businesses and non-profit organizations that build new and affordable housing. CJAH also considers how policies may impact the job market and access to living-wage, entry level jobs in less advantaged communities. CJAH supports policies that will help streamline and incentivize job creation and the production of new housing stock across a broad spectrum, including lower- and middle-income families, veterans and homeless men, women and children. CJAH does not support legislation that would add additional costs or other regulatory barriers to the production of affordable housing and limit opportunities for job creation in communities that are most in need. CJAH Positions on November Ballot Measures
CJAH supports a balanced approach to address our jobs and housing crisis and therefore CJAH SUPPORTS Measure HHH, the Los Angeles City housing bond because it will provide tangible opportunities for new housing and job creation. CJAH OPPOSES Measure JJJ because it contains provisions that will increase cost burdens, slow the construction of needed affordable housing and result in job losses.
