👮‍♀️ National Police Woman Day 💙

Today, the Town of Long View proudly recognizes National Police Woman Day and the dedicated women who serve our community through the Long View Police Department.

We are honored to recognize Investigator Harrelson, Officer Goolsby, and School Resource Officer Xiong for the professionalism, commitment, and compassion they bring to their roles each day.

Whether investigating cases, responding to calls for service, building relationships within our community, or supporting and protecting our students, each of these women plays an important role in keeping Long View safe.

National Police Woman Day is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of women in law enforcement and to thank those who have chosen a profession centered on service to others.

On September 10, 2026, Mayor Eddie Marlowe and Town of Long View Clerk Heather Minor attended the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Catawba: Leading Our Communities — Vision, Growth & Opportunity segment.

Congratulations to Town Clerk Heather Minor on a job well done and an excellent presentation highlighting the Town of Long View.

Good evening, everyone.

I know there have been many topics and some with concerns recently in Town of Long View. Some people may agree with certain decisions, while others may not, and I respect everyone’s right to have their own opinion.

As Mayor, I do not have a regular vote on matters before the Board of Aldermen. That is not by my choice that is what is written in law. I may only vote when there is a tie. However, I can and do participate in discussions, share concerns, and continue to encourage positive things that will benefit our town and its citizens.

If you have concerns about an issue that may come before the Board, I ask you to contact your Aldermen. They are your elected representatives who have the authority to vote and make decisions on behalf of the Town. I also encourage each Alderman to remain in contact with the citizens of their ward, listen to their concerns, and keep communication open. If there is a concern or you need information on an issue or need assistance you're always welcome to contact the Administration Staff at Long View Town Hall, Fire Department, Police Department and Public Works. Call Town Hall and they can connect you in the direction to whom you can speak with.

As Mayor, I represent everyone in the Town of Long View, and I will continue to assist our citizens to the best of my ability. Every day, I continue working on issues and concerns that are brought to my attention and looking for ways to move our town forward in a positive direction.

🇺🇸 25 Years — We Remember September 11, 2001 🇺🇸

Twenty-five years ago today, our nation experienced a tragedy that forever changed America.

At 8:46 a.m., American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

At 9:03 a.m., United Airlines Flight 175 struck the South Tower.

At 9:37 a.m., American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon.

At 9:59 a.m., the South Tower fell.

At 10:03 a.m., United Airlines Flight 93 crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers and crew courageously fought back against the hijackers.

At 10:28 a.m., the North Tower fell.

In just 102 minutes, 2,977 lives were lost. Among them were passengers and crew members, office workers, first responders, military personnel, and ordinary people who began that morning expecting an ordinary day.

But September 11 is also remembered for extraordinary courage—the firefighters, law enforcement officers, paramedics and other first responders who ran toward danger; the passengers of Flight 93 who fought back; and the countless Americans who helped strangers, comforted neighbors, and stood together in the days that followed.

Today, the flags at the Town of Long View stand in remembrance of every life lost, every family forever changed, and every hero whose courage became part of our nation’s history.

25 years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Congratulations Denise!

📣 TOWN OF LONG VIEW ANNOUNCES INTERIM FINANCE DIRECTOR

The Town of Long View is pleased to announce the promotion of Denise Collins from Deputy Finance Director to Interim Finance Director!

Denise has served the Town of Long View for the past 5½ years and brings an impressive 19 years of local government finance experience and nearly 40 years of experience in the finance field to her new role.

A graduate of Gardner-Webb University, Denise holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and has maintained her North Carolina Local Government Finance Officer Certification for the past six years.

A Hickory native, Denise has deep roots in our community and continues to call Hickory home, where she lives with her twin daughters and her four-legged family members. 🐾

Denise’s years of experience, knowledge of municipal finance, and familiarity with the Town’s financial operations will provide valuable continuity as she steps into this leadership role.
