Education Advocates For Responsible Spending

Education Advocates For Responsible Spending EARS opposes the plan to build a new middle school on the Williams athletic field in Longmeadow.

We believe that this site is too small, resulting in traffic and safety problems. We support education but believe the campus should be built elsewhere.

MISSION OF EARS

The mission of EARS (Education Advocates for Responsible Spending) is to raise awareness of the town’s plans to build a combined middle school with a capacity of 700 students on the Williams athletic field. The group supports improving educational opportunities for all students in Longmeadow, but rejects the site selection for the project. Bringing an additional 350 students to this site will exacerbate already existing traffic and safety issues, will violate town zoning regulations, and will have a detrimental impact on the surrounding neighborhoods. It is also the opinion of the group that the Williams site is too small for a school of this scope. The goal of EARS is to present a solid case that will convince the middle school building committee to pursue a different preferred solution.
